They run a deficit of under 10%...the Feds are running one over 40%....I'd trust Texas any day over Washington...

If Texas 'leaves' the Union... they'd have to deal with a mass migration of citizens to the other United States. They would survive (most likely), but the condition of that state would deteriorate (or be something not recognized as America).

And with Puerto Rico leaning toward becoming the next State... we won't even have to change our flag. :)

They would also see a massive influx of wealth from red business folk moving to a free economy...and the rump USA would suffer a loss of golden geese...

Oh C'mon, cali and ohio all have nukes too.

Nukes make war unlikely. Ever heard of a military conflict between USSR and USA?

Then why are you so worried about the possibility of Iran having nukes?

Not replying to you so save your breathe.

But there will also be tons of entrepreneurs, business tycoons and ambitious talented people move there.

Most people that vote for democrats are jobless low-income losers.

Oh God (although I don't believe him/her/it) no! I'm not worried about that at all! Iran can have H-Bomb and A-Bomb all they want. I do business with Iranians, they are friendly and decent folks, and a lot of them aren't half as religious as nuts like Jimmy Carter or Stephen cold-bear.

Most US leaders actually do believe the magical sky guy, while a lot Iranian I know secretly contend that Ali Khamenei is a typical political professional who appears to be hardcore in order to appease the fundies.

If Texas secedes then they lose the Lockheed defense contracts and without that US government corporate welfare Texas would go bankrupt. Perhaps Texas could produce a TV reality show called "Public Executions" to generate a little revenue.

I wish they would just either shut up or get the hell out. I am so sick of that typical Texas Birther/Truther/Beck/Hannity/Savage flavored bullpoop, (which Texas is NOTORIOUS for,) day in and day out.

(Cool Texans notwithstanding. You're very welcome to live up here in Realityland if you end up having to move away.)

I'm failing to see the implication here. But if you think only US government loves F-35, F-22, you are dead wrong.

if texas succeeds, the US needs to bar them from any and all trade until they pay back the money they have borrowed from the federal government. They borrowed far more than they put in, and they should not be allowed to simply cut and run.

I say cut our losses and let them go! Although, according to this OLD chart, Texas actually puts in about what they take out. But let 'em go anyways. It probably would be well worth the investment (not to mention peace of mind,) to dump all the red socialist states from our welfare rolls as well.

That's no problem. When they get to the point they can't handle things by themselves and need financial help, all they need to do is declare war on the USA and they can get all the help they need after losing.

The thoughts of secession are cute and all. Not the first time Texas has talked about it. Ironically, that is the basis for the USSC decision involving Texas and possible secession.

In Texas v. White, the argument was regarding the validity of bonds regarding the boundaries of Texas. In the decision on the case, secession was discussed, and the actual possibility of whether or not it was allowable. The decision is that the Union could not be broken.

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/historics/USSC_CR_0074_0700_ZO.html

The Union of the States never was a purely artificial and arbitrary relation. It began among the Colonies, and grew out of common origin, mutual sympathies, kindred principles, similar interests, and geographical relations. It was confirmed and strengthened by the necessities of war, and received definite form and character and sanction from the Articles of Confederation. By these, the Union was solemnly declared to "be perpetual." And when these Articles were found to be inadequate to the exigencies of the country, the Constitution was ordained "to form a more perfect Union." It is difficult to convey the idea of indissoluble unity more clearly than by these words. What can be indissoluble if a perpetual Union, made more perfect, is not?

Perhaps talk of secession plays well in Texas, and there are a lot of folks that like to think that it is a fine idea, but the reality is it could probably never legally happen nor would it be allowed to happen.

Yes, and if Cali or Ohio tried to secede, I'd be equally scared (*)(*)(*)(*)less. Not that I'm scared now, just amused, because it's not gonna happen, but you know what I mean...

And at the same time, we have non-proliferation treaties, and everyone is scared (*)(*)(*)(*)less that Iran might get one...

Maybe the US should invade them and start ANOTHER war with someone that would just want to be left alone...Like in 1860s.

Good! Go! get the "F" out! Who needs ya. I laugh at this crap and wonder if they think they'll be missed? I, in fact have often wished that the blue states and red states would separate, so we could have a modern, intelligent nation, and a stupid, red state, hillbilly nation living side by side.

Of course, they are a typical poor welfare state, the typical, hillbilly, meth smoking, low standard of living red state that the GOP brags about.
