From what I hear, this upcoming Christmas will be the last Christmas ever allowed in this country. I wouldn't celebrate it though because the FEMA jackboots will be taking names. boogity-boogity I've reached a tipping-point, tho. It used to be that I though you boys had taken leave of your senses. I now understand that it is much worse than simple insanity.
Don't be silly! It won't be banned. . .it will just fade away. And the Pope is helping it to fade away by taking the NICE stuff out of it! Can you imagine how many kids will be disappointed that they can't play the role of the donkey or the cow in the Christmas pageant? And the poor shepherds who can no longer "sing!" So much "tradition" is being lost already! By order of the Pope! Next thing you know "Joseph" will be called "Josie!" After all, Joseph didn't do much to facilitate Mary's pregnancy, right? Maybe Joseph was a "female partner" of Mary! What do you think? LOL!
Never. It will only happen two weeks after the GOP & the religious right & the "war on Christmas" types develop a brain.
Christmas was sort-of-banned under the ancestors of your fundamentalists, the puritans of England during the Commonwealth, as it was in Scotland. One of the greatest times yet, those.
Sad thing is....how little attention Fox News gives to the liberals and their War on Bastille Day and their War on National Talk Like A Pirate Day. We may lose our precious God-given right to celebrate the French Revolution and say "Arrrrrrrgh".
I was scared as well, but now I'm just willing to sit back and watch America go down the socialist tubes these next 4 years. No ne is expecting America to go any way but down while this potus is destroying it in rapid time.
So...which is it? Moving to "the last bastion of freedom...The Cayman Islands".....or "bunker up in the hills to ride out the coming anarchy"??? What's more popular these days? I know NatGeo has "Doomsday Preppers", but I'm sure the Travel Channel will have a show soon on "America Doomed: Moving To ____?" with Samantha Brown visting all the hot-spots in the Caribbean where there is no income tax and you can buy a mansion and get a bunch of servants for $100,000.
And where's Bill O'Reilly on the left-wing War on Yom Kippur (not to be confused with the "Yom Kippur War") and War on International Tuba Day (1st Friday in May)???
Keep in mind, today official holidays are a dime a dozen and Government is the first to take that day off or an extended weekend. FYI http://www.politifact.com/rhode-isl...jon-stewart-says-early-congress-met-most-chr/
Christmas could lose its religious significance eventually as it is already happening in Europe but the Christmas shopping season which puts consumers in spending mode in the lead up to Christmas will not die out even when people forget about the original meaning of Christmas as a celebration of Jesus' birth because the retail sector depends on it to boost sales. On the 17th I shall be attending a (very respectable) Saturnalia with my Latin class. All societies have some sort of cheer-up at this miserable time. It has nothing to do with the First Socialist.
Why would it need to be banned. It's to much of a cash-cow for business and it's protected as a religious belief. I see no reason for a ban. I can see it loosing popularity and people making celebrations smaller and therefore dying over a long period of time, but I cannot see a full ban, because that would backfire. Once you forbid someone to be religious they become even more religious than they ever were.
That was not its original meaning. The Christians - the Catholics in particular - changed it long ago.
Losing. "Loosing" is a different verb entirely with a slightly different pronunciation. Anyway, Christians will always have their Christmas and commercial enterprise will always have theirs. The two coexist just fine.
Thanks I will remember that. English is my third language so those little corrections are very important to me
