This argument is a lot like the grabbers argument that SWAT will arive to grab guns if citizens refuse to cooperate. The flaw in both arguments is in the assumption the gun owner will be content to sit home and wait for the government thugs.

In this specific case, aside from limited defense, what does having a half dozen long guns in ones home serve if you cannot take it anywhere? No hunting, no target shooting, no range days, no self defense...Registration also serves to kill most shooting sports as most folk will not take their unregistered gun out for fear the thugs will steal it or arrest the owner.

The absolute worst abuse would be from registration schemes...If the government demands registration and the courts uphold the abuse, then disobediance is almost guaranteed to be violent.

 

In this country 'executive orders' are limited by the scope of executive power as outlined in the Constitution. If he does anything otside that scope, he is violating the law...There is nthing in the Constitution that give BoBo the power to grab guns.

 

I haven't been on this forum long but I've yet to run across anyone else so self absorbed by hate and death than you.
If nothing else your the posterchild for both sides of the arguement that not all citizens are fit to own firearms.

I can understand an individuals desire to fight for their rights and freedoms. A desire I'm still formulating for myself.
I cannot understand an individual who's greatest desire is to remove another persons rights and freedoms by any means necessary including extermination, actually endorsing and revelling in it.

An AR-15 is NOT, by the very definition of the term, an assault rifle.

 

There are many millions of Americans that have legally purchased firearms , some are for self'defense , some are for hunting , and some are just fun to shoot .

In recent days , we've all been made aware of the 'assault rifle' controversy . Federal Law has stated that any firearm that has a pistol grip and uses a high capacity magazine is an assault weapon.

What about the Ruger .22 rifle ? one of the most prevalent guns that has ever been sold ...anyone can legally purchase a pistol grip stock , and legally purchase a multi-round clip / magazine ... does that legally qualify this firearm as an assault weapon ? I don't think so .

Of the many AR-15 legally sold , and legally purchased , just because some nut used them to committ mayhem and murder is not a reason to abolish the legal ownership of these firearms.

However , having said that , something is gonna have to be done to protect our society from these type firearms , and the mentally ill that use these type of weapons , we as a Society have the right to protect our children from these evil monsters that target our children .

A few days ago I was wondering what has happened, what has changed. When I was in school we never heard of shootings like what we have seen recently. In the 50’s there was a high percentage of homes with guns. This is quite a list and I think it points to the cause of these events.

Which is my point...If he starts a grab, folk will reject it. If he nibbles little pieces and declares victory, he will have done nothing.

 

I'm not going to do anything except watch and wait...What could happen is agrieved folk, as individuals, might see who issues the orders that result in the death of peaceful gun owners in the much desired grab and politely visit at home to express disaproval...

Unless the politicians, bureaucrats and police retreat to walled enclaves, they will be every bit as vulnerable to angry folk as those folk are to the gun grabbing police.
