John Boehner signs surrender.....V-TP Day!!!!

It's funny to listen to Tea Party types talk as though they were an actual grass roots movement. Maybe they just didn't notice all the corporate money going into their election campaigns.

 

Even if there is a deal the crisis has just begun. The whole world realizes the US is not the stable country it once was.

If Congress doesn't like seeing the debt limit increase, it needs to stop authorizing us to spend more money than we take in. Then we won't ever have to raise the debt ceiling again.

But the tactic here -- ignoring spending, and instead threatening America's credit-rating in pursuit of petty partisan goals -- was both doomed and deeply un-American. What sort of "patriot" holds America's credit-rating hostage in order to defund a law they don't like?

This is the nub of the matter: the debt ceiling *is* pointless, and artificial. There is no reason to have such a ceiling, since it must be routinely raised, and the problem is the deficit, not the ceiling.

There's a proposal floating around Congress to give the president the authority to unilaterally raise the debt ceiling, so that we never run this risk again. We should pass it. It would prevent political threats to America's credit-rating, without harming efforts to cut the deficit.

 

Ever since Obama got elected TWICE, the smart people already knew that.. those that don't know are either kidding themselves, or just plain stupid...

a big loss and the continuation of Obamacare could lead to further paranoia.

If Obamacare turns out as badly as you hope, Republicans will win some elections and be able to change it.

Instead, you guys tried to preempt Obamacare -- after three years of scaremongering and sabotaging it.

Okay, that's politics. But you went beyond the pale when you decided to hold the government and economy hostage as part of your effort to stop Obamacare. Actual patriots don't do that.

And *that* is why y'all got hammered. Because you were willing to tank the economy to get your partisan way.

With any luck you have learned a lesson here, and from now on will pursue your political goals the proper way: by winning enough elections to make legislative changes through the normal legislative process.

 

I am no longer a Republican. I am not sure what is going to come out of this, but a 3rd party hopefully.

We have no plan. We have no way to stop the spending, the debt, nothing. No one has a clue, so I am done. Democrats have no ideas, and are just a joke, the republicans are democrat light.

Does she even *listen* to what comes out of her mouth? In her world, I guess the only acceptable option for Obama is "give the Tea Party everything it wants, because if you let them crash the economy, they'll impeach you."

 

3rd party won't do (*)(*)(*)(*) unless it can figure out a better, more attractive way to legalize illegal immigrants and give them confiscated wealth from white people. That's the future for America, one that Democrats have been embracing for half a century, already.

I believe the Tea Party position to be tantamount to treason. If I were dictator I'd have them all arrested and sentenced to work at homeless shelters.
