I never said it would stop the drug war, but it would clear up the criminal justice system and allow police to make better use of resources.
Yeah, I'm not real sure about all that. Its very possible arrests saved lives, sometimes even the life of the guy arrested.
---that doesn't make any sense. The point of the drug war is to confiscate the property and loot of criminals, after allowing them to amass it from the drug addled community. It's called "urban farming".
Im not talking about the pot killing you, Im talking about getting arrested and then changing your life for the better.
Who's to say they needed to change their lives? If the pot is causing them to do something disorderly then they'll be arrested anyway. So nothing changes by making pot legal. But there are people being arrested for smoking it in their own homes. Why do they need to be arrested just for smoking. Why do they need to change their lives?
I agree with him on this one. I've never seen anyone stumbling around, and losing motor control after smoking a couple pipe fulls. It's definitely the more benign of the 2...and of course it's a new revenue stream for the Gov. to tax. Win-Win.
Statistically, that's not what happens though. Prison is essentially crime college. Marijuana is not like harder drugs, your argument is akin to saying if we only arrested those who binge drink during the weekend, maybe it would force them to change their lives for the better. If you really want to talk about arresting people by the effect their drug of choice has on them, we may as well bring back prohibition. Or ban all prescription drugs. - - - Updated - - - Someone has to stop the Netflix binge!
The will of the People? The People never got to vote on whether pot should be legal or not. Clue: when it is set before the People today they are saying it should be treated just like Alcohol, meaning Legal. Had a pol here in Texas the other day, on FOX, 65% of Texans that replied said Legalize it and even Conservative Gov Perry thinks the laws need to change. Now back to your rant about Obama.
With their infernal racial set-asides, racial quotas, and race norming, liberals share many of the Klan's premises. The Klan sees the world in terms of race and ethnicity. So do liberals! Indeed, liberals and white supremacists are the only people left in America who are neurotically obsessed with race. Conservatives champion a color-blind society. -- Ann Coulter This is a lie by a 24/7 liar...conservatives talk about a color blind society so they won't be called on their crap. Today's right wing has adopted "1984" Doublespeak approach...a deliberate distort of words, thoughts and beliefs...they approach a level of evil.
Sad but true...the drug war will continue its fruitless effort to control drugs...all it will accomplish is further destruction of lives. THE WAR ON DRUGS HAS RUINED MORE LIVES THAN DRUGS EVER COULD!
What do you mean when you say the problem is the Mexican government is ending its collusion with drug lord? Do you mean they are ending they're secret cooperation with drug lords or do you mean they are just becoming less secretive about their cooperation?
I have a question, what has killed more people the drinking alcohol or smoking weed? Have more people died from drunk drivers or folks driving smoking weed?
Logically you can't make that into a viable argument. 67% of adults drink alcohol on average 4 drinks per week. Only 6 percent of the population smokes pot regularly. You can't make a comparison with those stats. Reverse it....and you would see a more destructive society---not only in driving deaths, but in the side affects of Pot.
the alcohol was easy to find.http://www.gallup.com/poll/141656/drinking-rate-edges-slightly-year-high.aspx This say's 7% currently smoke pot--I saw one that said 6% but this is probably more accurate. You have to go down halfway through to see current users. http://www.gallup.com/poll/163835/tried-marijuana-little-changed-80s.aspx
So now Obama is a tyrant for saying something that is arguable true, if not an absolute fact. I'm not going to make a long detailed post of the argument, CNN has an article on it: http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/20/health/marijuana-versus-alcohol/ The stupid thing is not what President Obama said, it is that the republicans reaction has nothing to do with a logical argument. Really, so if a president discusses any illegal subject, it is an act of a tyrant.
Driving deaths would increase because the point of pot is messing up the mind---a high. I went to a company party last tuesday and had a glass of wine and drove home. One joint equals (in my opinion based on my weight) 4 glasses or more of wine. So if you have 60% of people smoking pot and driving---yeah, it would cause deaths. Side effects are lack of motivation, tiredness, apathy, chronic coughing, lung issues.....and I remember a distinct "down" after the high is gone--which was never pleasent. I suppose if every time we drank a glass of wine or had a beer and had to deal with a hangover the next day---it wouldn't be a positive thing.
It is already illegal to drive under the influence. Legalizing pot does not change this, so I don't see how driving related deaths would increase. In any case, that would be an argument to ban alcohol. Like a hang over after drinking. A glass of wine is analogous to a single hit off a joint. An entire joint is analogous to 2 bottles of wine(depending on body weight/tolerance)
So that would make alcohol more dangerous than weed wouldn't it? What are you basing that on? The only effect I have seen is that it makes your grocery bill shoot up.
