So, let me get this straight.

It's OK for homosexual business owners to discriminate because they disagree with someone's beliefs for behavior, but Christian business owners can't do the same?

    Got it.

Kinda a bad approach, seeing as catching a hard line anti-gay congressman in a gay bar would be much more satisfying than denying them entry.

I'll determine how hypocritical our buddies on the left are with the level of outrage at this gay bar's plan of discrimination - although I find it hilarious that they'd think a single person who would hold anti-gay political beliefs would ever in a million years wish to patronize a gay bar.

I do thank them for their short-sighted and self-destructive stance, however. It helps immensely with the argument I've been defending in the Arizona business rights thread.

And I support a private business having that right.

The Federal Civil Rights Act guarantees all people the right to "full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin."

Additionally, under California's Unruh Civil Rights Act makes it illegal to discriminate against individuals based on unconventional dress or sexual preference.

Don't see where profession is covered in that.

This is just as wrong as those trying to deny service to openly gay persons. It's like being the "thought police," refusing service to someone because of their own personal beliefs.....which they have a right to. It's getting rather ridiculous actually.

Noone who was voting on this was ever planning to set foot in a Hollywood Gay bar anyway under any circumstances. No teeth in this bite, but if it makes them feel better...have at it.

If they followed liberal tactics they should go into this bar and try to order a drink. I want them on tv getting thrown out so people can see the blatant double standard the far left has.

That is just as wrong as not allowing gays service in heterosexual places. If pushed came to shove on this issue, I'd bet the owners would lose based on discrimination.
If heteros were really intent on patronizing a gay place.

i have a feeling that legislators aren't patrons of that bar

and that the bar is just trying to get more business with a funny promotion

but, what's really funny is anyone that thinks it's anything like a law that allows discrimination

that's something that is unconstitutional and violates the civil rights act

Its only against the law to discriminate against certain, select classifications of people. Otherwise they can discriminate all they like.

Hmm...it doesn't say anything about sexual orientation in there, does it? Which means that the Arizona bill is 100% legal under federal law.

I'm all for it, allow businesses to discriminate freely, it is after all their risk and their money at stake. The market will decide, plus is appears to be based upon the actions that people have taken, which would open the door to turn away people who have things like gang tattoos or people who vocally protested to close down a bakery or some such... Let freedom reign...

I also don't see where political affiliation is covered either.

I don't care if they are denying service and no way would any conservative sue them over it.

Why should I want to drink in a homo bar?

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII) prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

Why are you discussing the Arizona bill? Hollywood is in California. And as my previous post states, you can't deny service based upon sexual preference in California.

Don't worry, if there's any class that can tie political affiliation, anti-homosexuality, and religious beliefs together, it's the neo-con crowd.

Sex = gender. That is the context of the word as it is used in the Civil Rights Act. Sex does not equal sexual orientation, unless you are trying to say that being male or female is a sexual orientation, in which you would be wrong.
