Hollywood works in fads. They like to tell people what they want.. For instance, people wanted fantasy adventure around the time the Conan movies were being made. Much more recently, people were clearly wanting bad movie and TV remakes and reboots.

As far as explanations for nature, we barely have any.

Have you never read a science book ? Ever watched public TV? Ever done a search on what makes rain? Why plants grow? What an atom is? Why dead wood is vital to healthy forests?

Humans know an unbelievable amount about nature....what ARE you talking about?

 

So you get all your info from PBS? OK then. That explains a lot. Do you learn about aquatic life by watching SpongeBob SquarePants?

Look there are simple rules to effectively insulting people the first of which is that the person you are attempting to insult must give a hoot about your opinion... You have failed miserably following the first rule!!!!

 

You did get carried away with facts not in evidence about the nature of the black sea flooding, but you did mostly come around on it. "Lying", tho?

Its true, they can make an ugly moment, something like seeing bloody vomit on the sidewalk is ugly.

If a person wants to make themselves no better or respectable than that in order
to try to have an emotional impact on others, well, they can succeed. It works, its ugly.

An insult, tho? Such people as your pal there or the guy with the shoddy pick up line lack any capacity to insult any more than does a dog turd or other unpleasant thing in a public place. Its merely revolting.

why would an omniscient ALL GOOD god even include ugly bits in the book in the first place?

furthermore, who died? jesus had a lie down for a few days (pretending to be dead? in a coma? dead - and therefore pain free?), but then chooffed off to the pearly gates by some unknown mode of transportation. no explanation given, just 'ascended' to heaven. at least the muslims have a go at explaining how their boy got upstairs without a rocket.

The rest of your post is old news I've already run across from the other God bashers here. I have always found it amazing how worked up and aggravated non-believers get in threads like this. You're on your way buddy. Your pal Hastings has already lost it. Normal people stay away from that which they do not believe in and move along. I give you about 10 more posts before your rage kicks in.

How VERY christian of you to try to incite rage. But your plan is a good one.....continually lie about what people post (because that is what CHRISTIANS DO)...yup, you'll get some slap back....can't take it? Get out of the kitchen....

I wish I could think of something good about christianity...even christians vivid imaginations, especially about some ridiculous book, are seriously warped....can't even admire them for that...poor things...

I choose to believe you're intelligent enough to have a little insight. At least, I hope you can find the time, privately, to think about what you're doing. Effectively, the following:

You admit to believing, wholesale, in a book of fables involving magic and superstition, written thousands of years ago, by bronze age goatherds, which is chock full of unspeakably evil acts committed by and for a mysteriously absent omniscient, omnipotent creator-being. These cobbled together fables being all terribly derivative of an array of myths and legends specific to the area generally. Also taking into consideration that there are and have been many, MANY different versions of the same sort of thing in different cultures and places throughout human history.

Now fast forward 2000 years. 2000 years during which the validity of this old book was never questioned. To do so, at pretty much any point during that time span, was to risk certain death. It has only been in the very last breath of that huge span of time that people have been safe to stand back and have a good hard look at the thing. And only in OUR OWN LIFETIME - possibly only in the last dozen years, have people in the more educated parts of the world come to acknowledge that it's bad medicine, and are happy to say so out loud.

If you happen to be an older Christian (over 50), and were born and raised in a religious environment, then I dare say you are experiencing something like shock, just at present. You were never given the tools to defend your faith (because it's indefensible, but that's only been revealed very recently), and you're hardwired to be horrified at the idea of questioning god.
