It's easy to do when you keep changing the definition of the term. I had a friend who tried to claim she was raped because she had sex with a guy she didn't really want to sleep with just so she wouldn't feel like a tease. She said her feminist group had convinced here that it wasn't "real consent."

How in the hell can these women demand "freedom of choice" when they won't even take responsibility for the choices that they make?

It's so ENLIGHTENING when Rightwingers talk about "rape".....like Todd "if legitimate rape the woman's body shuts down" Akin....or Richard "rape from pregnancy may be God's will" Mourdock.

And then they lose easty-to-win Senate seats.

BS There are 2 'epidemic' rape 'cultures' currently that are getting alot of attention! NEITHER REPORT and/or are REQUIRED TO REPORT! Both 'cultures' involve young HEALTHY men and women sharing spaces. Both are physically and even 'legally' closed off from the rest of the aggregate local police/FBI/legal systems. (As in easier to hide and/or simply not report). THEY ARE THE US MILITARY AND COLLEGE CAMPUSES. And the most 'closed off' is the MILITARY.

Your assumption that it is a HOAX is at best, wishful thinking (or POLITICALLY MOTIVATED). At worse, it is systemically hidden from view and even legal accountability.

PS I sure as hell wish it were in a nosedive!

But with the expanded definitions of rape and enhanced protection for those who report rape, you'd think the number of reports would go up. It's why I'm as puzzled as the OP at this graph. In the military sex assault reports are going up, and that's a bitter sweet development because nobody wants more rapes, but the number of reports indicate the military is doing better at getting victims to report it. I would expect this trend all across the nation.

A "friend"? Do you usually refer to your friends as "these women"?

This is why anecdotal evidence is unreliable. I have a friend, of a friend, of a friend who says you made that anecdote up, by the way.

Saying "these women" is misogynist now?

    Taxcutter says:
If these sectors were truly closed off (which I don't believe for a minute) I could ask you: How do you know? They are closed off. Anything could be happening or nothing could be happening. How would you know?

You don't. You are selling the forum a hoax.

It kinda smells, left handed, if you ask me....

I do know that planned parenthood encourages rape claims so they can kill babies, even though they refuse to notify the authorities, when rapes occur.

So to those who report statistics, mass media or what not, the alleged increase in the frequency of rapes in the military and on campuses is synonymous with confirmed increase of rapes everywhere, and reported using such non-specific language?

You'll find vast ignorance on this subject on both sides of the aisle but fact is that, despite the liberal "rape is rape" mantra, not all rapes are created equal. We, as a society and in the eyes of the law, have many different classifications of rape. You'll never see me advocating lighter sentences for those people.

I think forcible, aggrevated rape should carry the death penalty, don't you agree?

You REALLY need to hang out with a better class, or at least SMARTER than this woman! Or your interpretation of what she and her 'feminist' friends said was not what she and her feminist friends meant.

It wasn't so long ago, if YOU KNEW a man who had sex with you, it could NEVER be rape. If you had sex with your WIFE, whether she was willing or NOT, it could not be rape. You could have sex with your DAUGHTERS, it was not considered rape. In my lifetime! Frankly, I don't want a bunch of yahoos on a political board defining what they think is RAPE! Most utterances have been wrong.

I agree. The definition of rape includes but isn't limited to:

    1. Use of extortion to solicit sex
    2. Having sex with an intoxicated or otherwise incapacitated person unable to consent to it
    3. Having sex with a minor (they're too young legally to consent to sex)
    4. Date rape and marital rape. You alluded to this
    5. Diminished capacity rape, having sex with a retarded or profoundly retarded person, elderly person with dementia, or other person lacking the reasoning skills to consent
    6. Aggravated rape, hearing and understanding a "no" but proceeding with sex anyway against the person's wishes or simply attacking, subduing, and having sex with a person
    7. Rape by deception, when the victim's consent is gained by deliberate fraud.

And I agree with every one of these definitions.

Rape hysteria is perennial propaganda for the left in securing the young female voting bloc. It is a rare crime, and the only reason it seems otherwise is that "survey studies" allow the survey takers to decide what "rape" is and define it as "any time a woman had sex and then regretted it later" among other wacky definitions. Going back into those studies, turns out that many of the "victims" are in fact -married- to their rapists or in LTRs with them.

One of the favorite recent distortions is that women who have been drinking can't consent. That is absolute BS legally and ethically, and would make for millions of male rape victims every single day. When feminists start organizing their rape rallies at prisons and in inner cities where a vast majority of rapes take place, -then- I might have something other than scorn for their campus hand-flapping sessions.

Feminists are disgusting people and their divisive, hateful lie narrative is also disgusting.

I virtually quoted her verbatim. And there's no need for sarcastic quotation marks. She and all of her friends are self-described liberal feminists. Their words, not mine. As for her intelligence, she's got upward of a 140 IQ. Further proving that you can be intellectually gifted and still be a total moron.

Rape isn't a feminist agenda or a Leftist ploy. It's a crime so terrible that I want it punished harshly every time it happens. I don't know why every decent person can't get behind that.

My, that shiny armor on you and your valiant steed sure do shine, sir knight. If you haven't spent much time near campuses or courtrooms lately, I recommend you do. No one here is condoning rape.

Rape is a form of assault, that's what it is. It may be severely violent, as some assaults are, or not severely violent at all. It is not "all one thing" in severity. Many rapes do have mitigating moral circumstances regardless of whether such is admissible in court. Acknowledging the truth of that is not "blaming the victim." It is very often falsely reported and men are falsely accused. The lax evidentiary standards and restrictions in rape cases are highly discriminatory against men. We do not live in a "rape culture." In fact a tiny fraction of one percent ever commit rape, yet watching a few hours of agenda driven MSM television would lead one to believe we are in a rape and sexual assault epidemic with a rapist behind every tree. Nothing could be further from the truth. And yes, it absolutely, most certainly -is- a feminist agenda and leftist ploy. Finally, acknowledging the truth of the above does not make me some sort of "rape apologist" in any way, shape, form.

Like porno, you know it when you 'see' it. I'm pretty sure no one here - true patriots included - would babble about 'legitimate' or 'hoax' rapes if the victim were their wife, daughter or sister et al. I'm against the death penalty but I wouldn't mind seeing convicted rapists getting 20+ years and a little shower room payback.

If it isn't reported, how can you punish it?

If it isn't reported, does it really exist?

If it is reported but cannot be proved, does it really exist?

Who the hell are you arguing with? I never said anything about blaming the victim nor did I call you a rape apologist. I laid out 7 ways that rape happens as recognized under the law and I agree that every one of those is rape. What I think is "rare" isn't rape, but false reports of rape. Though it's possible, it takes a special kind of evil woman to do this, the kind that is exceptionally rare. Even so, yes it can and probably does occur.

The problem is men can mitigate this possibility to nearly nothing, but they don't. The Duke Lacrosse boys screwed up by playing around with hookers. When men play with hookers, hook up with women they hardly know, or have premarital sex of any kind or sex outside of a loving, committed relationship, they make themselves vulnerable to predators, the precise predators you're referring to. It's not that they deserve a false accusation of rape, it's that they make it far more likely by their failure to act responsibly and protect themselves.

There's a reason that a loving God has set rules by which we're to conduct ourselves. It isn't because He's a cosmic killjoy, it's because He loves us and wants us to be safe.

No, you said that rape hysteria in this country is not a political ploy, and I disagree. It is in my legal and personal experience. The left has a huge vested interest in convincing women they are in danger and need the illusory protection of biggov.

False accusations of rape are no more nor less frequent that false accusations of other crimes. Probably at least ~10-15% if unbiased sources are used. Some controversial (but also unbiased) studies, though, put the incidence of false accusations, far higher, ~40%.

No, as a matter of legal fact, they cannot, and why should men bear all of that burden in a society where women are presumably equal, compete for jobs equally, school slots, career advancement? You are a textbook case of "white knight" syndrome on this issue. That attitude is exactly why so much discrimination against men and favoring women persists in our culture. Women are either little children who need special coddling and protection, or they are equal. The days of "pick and choose" equality for women are rapidly coming to an end as the marriage rate plummets through the floor.

Even if it is unwise to have sex with people one doesn't know well, it happens millions of times every day, and is neither one gender nor another's primary fault. Ironically, you are doing exactly what feminist rape hystericists complain about legalistically, blaming the victim. Have seen this many times where women and white knight men facilely shift blame to the man in every situation. False rape accusations are to blame on the people who make them. Period. Or rather, women who wear miniskirts are "asking for it." Want to go there?

Until such gets elected to the legislature, I'll confine my conjectures and opinions to actual political life in the status quo.
