No backpedaling, this is the internet. People exaggerate in their arguments all the time. Good use of the No True Scotsman fallacy to deflect, though. Of course no Tea Partier would ever be so bold to paint a little Hitler mustache on Obama, the guy so many casually refer to on this forum as "de Black Fuhrer"

Huh? My opinion is the same as yours and Fresh Air - cameras on the cops and in their vehicles is a good idea.

They dont have a right to demand your "papers" they have the right to ask and see your ID if they have probable cause that a crime is or has been commited. How many times does this have to be explained to you? Do you work? Have you ever worked? Did you tell the person doing the interview they were "Nazi's"? How did that go?

I dodged nothing as I never made any such assertion.
I will say it's irrelevant to this particular incident though.

I was just trying to show you the info I thought you may have missed.

The article goes into specific detail as to why the officer was well within his authority to ask for ID.

Again I'm glad the officer had a 'race card cam' on and prevented a racist from running a good cop through the ringer and possibly out of a job.

Then why are you defending that action? Do you or do you not agree that the police had a right to demand see Watts' paper or arrest her?

I completely disagree. I think it is the most important part of this discussion. The video proves the police were innocent of the racism accusation. They were just doing their job. My concern, like the militarization of police shown previously from Ferguson and Boston, is people who think police have a right to demand your papers or you will be arrested.

When you want to reference something like the "No True Scotsman" fallacy, it would be helpful if it actually fit the situation. I didn't say no Tea Partier would ever make a Obama=Hitler sign. Just that the ones that showed up at Tea Party rallies were by the LaRouche people. But that has nothing to do with your Nazi/Hitler reference. It's not Tea Party people in this thread making Nazi references. You are. If you think it's OK, which you seem to do, "People exaggerate in their arguments all the time" then why even bring up Hitler signs from years ago? Did you think that would be defended?

As for me, as soon as you bring up Hitler and the Nazi's, I assume you either rant out of arguments and are flailing about, or never had an argument in the first place.

Considering they had probable cause of course. Just like a cop has the right to see your ID when he pulls you over... You seem like a decent poster. Please dont start screaming Nazi and Police State if they issue you a ticket.

You seem to be a decent poster. Why do you support police having a right to see your ID just by walking up to you?

Where is that tissue BTW? If the police showed up, saw the tissue on the ground by the car, that would support probable cause....or do you believe you should be arrested on the say so of a ticked off neighbor who says you were beating your meat on the back porch?

Now that the truth is out about her having sex in the car and not just making out, the next we'll hear from her is that she was researching a role... :roflol:

Dumb racist, all she had to do was to quit having sex with her BF when she was asked to quit. Glad to see that the truth trumps the race card! :)

Not confused at all. You're the one who jumped in supporting police "rights". I'm the one defending citizen rights regardless if they are racist actresses or just honest citizens minding their own business.

The video is what will vindicate the police in this incident. I agree, both body and cameras on police is a good thing. Same goes for allowing citizens to video anything in public.

Laughable. So in your mind police never have the right to see your ID because then they are "Nazi's"? How can they investigate anything if they dont even know whom they are dealing with?

Simple.... No.. She was detained and released. Never arrested.

That's what Nanny Staters always say. When they can't win by logic, they seek to win by ridicule.

I really can't fault the police much here, because they were responding to a call appropriately. Of course, the call itself was misinformed, and the cops could have been a bit less enthusiastic about their efforts - or perhaps a bit more enthusiastic about assessing before acting.

You are free to call any disagreement with your ideals as trolling, but I'm free to cry "Bull (*)(*)(*)(*)!" when I see it. Especially against those who are Nanny Staters, both the declared and undeclared ones.

What people like you don't seem to understand is that we can't support and defend the Constitution while simultaneously chipping away at it when it serves our personal agenda.

Please explain how police asking for ID while investigating a criminal complaint is chipping away at the Constitution..

    Go for it.

Scroll up. I've already done so.

Just so we're clear, you're fine with everyone present where a complaint has been filed being forced to produce ID or face arrest. Is that your position?

Uh huh, yea, only those nasty interlopers showed up at TP rallies with offensive signs, right? Next you'll be telling liberal plants held the signs featuring Obama with a bone through his nose in witchdoctor garb. But again, think what you want, this has nothing to do with the OP, however.
