Now.....mind you, this isn't a gun recall from the manufacturer. This is coming from the U.S. Customs & Border Protection, who claims its due to their agency of training determination that more than 2000 guns had potential for malfunction. Guns have been taken away as guns are being "refurbished," leaving BP agents feeling "disarmed" and without protection. AND this comes at a time when Obama is about to announce his Amnesty with an E.O. Does anyone besides me find this incredibly NOT so coincidental? I think he wants them disarmed. I think he knows there is likely to be a "run over the border" and he wants our Agents to NOT be able to do anything about it. You don't take 40% of guns away from those charged with keeping the border protected....and all at once.....unless you are "okay" with them being at a disadvantage. Experts are saying they didn't need to be refurbished....simpler solutions exit without their guns being taken from them. "Border Patrol officials have pulled thousands of rifles from field agents in a large-scale effort to refurbish the weaponry, prompting the rank-and-file to complain that they've been left with the dangerous options of sharing guns or being disarmed altogether. Nearly one-third of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's 16,300 M4 carbine rifles were tested by the agency's office of training and development, which determined that more than 2,000 had the potential for malfunction. The rate of nearly 40 percent was "more than we are comfortable with, said CBP Deputy Chief Ron Vitiello. "Our top priority is to make sure our agents are safe, said Vitiello, adding that the agency intends to eventually cycle through all of the rifles to ensure that those in need of repair are fixed. They will be like new when they are refurbished. But in the meantime, Border Patrol agents are dubious about the department's claims, given that the guns' manufacturer, Colt, has not issued a recall. And they are vehemently opposed to "pool guns" -- weapons shared by two or more agents. "They are basically disarmed," said Jeff Prather, operator of the Warrior School Wed like to know why the rifles were recalled and when they will be returned, Shawn Moran, spokesman for National Border Patrol Council, the union which represents agents, told FoxNews.com. Our agency is trying to figure out why they were pulled." http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/11/1...s-say-agencys-gun-recall-puts-them-in-danger/
If they were being tested that means they were never distributed. Of course the BP are going to test pruchased firearms to see if they meet spec. you should be yapping at the gun manufacturer that put the agents in that spot by producing and trying to pass off faulty gear. Im about positive that Border Patrol wants their agents to have a weapon that works as advertized instead of one that blows up in their agents faces.
Alternative history News 'Guns blow up in Boarder Protection Service members hands. Complaints about crappy tech that endangers their lives roll in'
Strange that no mention was made as to what the possible issue could be. As a former Armorer myself I would not be pull the lot of guns but would have pulled a set amount and replaced them with spares that they would be allowed to zero in on the range before going back on patrol. Refurbishment is a different things from correcting a problem, Refurbishment with an M4 usually involves replace worn parts and if needed redo of the blueing which has nothing to do with operation. If it was a problem with a part it would be something I could replace within minutes in my shop or even in the field, especially with an M4, which has no parts that cannot be replaced within minutes by an experienced weapons specialist. Something does not sound right and I do not know if the story is not totally accurate or is the people maintaining their weapons are incompetent or if there really is some sort of major issue. Need more information before SPECULATING, as the OP has done.
Brian Terry, a border patrol agent who was killed by gun from obamas fast and furious scandal, was armed with bean bags gun.
Something does not sound right here at all, there are very few malfunctions with an AR that can result in one blowing up in your face, in fact after firing more rounds than most people have ever even seen I have yet to ever see one blow up, malfunction occasionally (normally an ammunition issue, not the firearm) but blow up, never. I would not be too concerned if I were you, especially if the manufacture has not issued any sort of warning or recall, I checked the Colt site and saw nothing.
Does this conspiracy theory go up there with the following you also thought was going to happen? Obama purposely allowing Ebola into USA to infect us all Obama declaring Marshal Law prior to the 2012 elections Obama stockpiling billions of rounds of Ammo to kill us all Obama is Muslin and wants Sharia Law in the USA Just curious where you fit this new Obama conspiracy in that mix.
Says they fired the bean bags does not say they had no other guns. We both know they had their side arms and that instead of using them they used the bean bags, that was a huge mistake on their part. Normal protocol would say one identifies who suspects might be and what threat they may be before confronting them. The guys were carrying AK's and had the officers really due their due diligence they could have at least had their handguns out and ready, even though they would still be outgunned. I am not saying his death was his own fault, the fault always lies with the criminal, but had they done a better job of identifying who they were confronting he may very well still be alive today. Anyway, your link does not say he was armed only with a bean bag gun and we both know he was not.
I'm not saying that he shouldn't have a gun. Sorry, that should have said Alternate Universe News. As in, if one had exploded, that is more or less what the headline would have read. Another way of saying 'damned if you do, damned if you don't'.
Only if the story turns out to be Bogus. I have yet to find anything on a viable news source supporting the story, only thing I find are Blog stuff and that is not reliable enough to tell you the temperature.
I find it very odd as well, for there to be a government safety recall of an incredibly common firearm, and there be no details about the problem available. sniffsniff.......smells fishy.
So, now we're to believe that Obama not only is about to announce that anyone and everyone who wants to cross the border can come on in, and that he is disarming the Border Patrol at the same time? Really? Is that the real Obama, or the fictional one who comes knocking on doors confiscating guns and going to Central America recruiting children to come to the US and learn to become faithful Democratic voters?
That rifle is in widespread use by Police departments and the FBI, are they being recalled too? It does smell like a rotting corpse. More than likely it's the Obama administration's attempt at border enforcement suppression.
