Translated In reality they spent the duration of their tour of duty behind the wire and never faced real combat outside of a few mortar strikes in the vicinity.

Take this from a non-combat guy...people make (*)(*)(*)(*) up to make it look impressive. Now, in the context of lying in uniform to get a recommendatioin for an award, or a benefit...that's a serious matter. What this civilian reporter did was lie, about his helo getting hit by an RPG while he was "over there." You would know if it got hit, trust me. You don't confuse the aircraft you are riding in with someone else's. You would know and the memory is seared into your brain because a natural human response is of course the fear of losing one's life.

Brian Williams lied. Now let the first who has never lied or embellished cast the first stone. Just being in Iraq in 2003 was hazardous duty, yes he lied, his helo was not hit...but I'm not convinced he should lose his job over anecdotal story telling.

 

The inspectors were thrown out.
