That is an opinion not backed by any authority that I acknowledge... but a moot point as America is not a theocracy. The American Government does have the authority to define marriage as being between a man and a woman or two people of the same sex. The supposed "God-given laws" were written by man thus to follow said laws is to follow the law of man.
Were the the laws of gravity as abrasive to the human ego as the laws governning marriage, its effects would be no more observable. That is hardly sufficient to moot the point, since the laws governing marriage apply regardless of the form of government. So what? No. They have been born witness to by men here and there, as they were in part in the Declaration of Independence; but God is their author, obviously.
We can't put toothpaste back in the tube. The genie is out of the bottle. Now that we've changed the definition of marriage, there's no plausible argument on why it can't be changed again, and again.
A witness can lie or otherwise be biased in their observations. The word God in the Declaration of Independence carries with it no authority in how the American Government is run, thus same sex marriage being the law of the land. As for God being an author, I argue that there is no proof that God exsists let alone has written a single word.
I don't understand what you are trying to say. There is one law of gravity. If people could dismiss or suspend gravity when it offended them, that would demonstrate gravity never was a natural law.
He's explaining how he sees things. Anything he doesn't like doesn't exist and he presumes everyone is the same way - apparently.
Conservatives are still arguing over abortion, and that was decided in 1973. The DEFINITION of conservative is old, hidebound, behind the times, outmoded, reactionary and ossified. Don't expect a conservative to stop beating this dead horse this until after they have danced at their son's wedding with his husband
This is possibly the most irritating thing about conservatives. Their smug assurance that they speak for society, god and even YOU, if you would just put on the tinfoil hat and awaken from your thrall to the Lizard Men's mind control rays
Bearing witness to self-evident truth is never lying, and biases are irrelevant in such cases. OTOH, if the reality of God has no authority in how America is run, history has shown quite convincingly that there will be Hell to pay. You have no idea what you're talking about. Alas, no one can make that argument intelligently. I never said He did. Which might be interesting if one could dismiss or suspend, in any real sense, the laws governing marriage. Things being what they are, those who violate those laws will feel the incipient ill effects the moment they begin to respond to the inevitable pangs of conscience with rationalization.
It started off as civil unions, not marriage, and states passed a ton of laws prohibiting marriage and civil unions by gays. Just think, perhaps if the conservatives had just supported civil unions and rabidly as they opposed them, marriage might still be between one man and one woman. Oh well, your conservatives dropped the ball.
It still is, and always will be. Not really, as there is no good reason for the law to countenance homosexuality in any respect. Read it again, genius. Pretending God's laws don't exist won't end well either.
Not anymore. What're you going to do about it? Of course you can. It happens all the time. Not ridiculous at all. The old definition was insufficient, so it was changed.
The law will not stand. It will be voted on again and lose. Republican becomes president it's all over. To federally demand all states to adhere to it is unconstitutional. Let the states decide. After all, they are the people in them.
Gravity cannot be ignored or suspended. No example to the contrary has ever been demonstrated. Pretending gravity doesn't exist means your expectations will diverge from reality. This can be demonstrated. The rules that you believe are natural laws, how will you demonstrate they exist and are independent of your expectations?
A belief in God and the tenets of religion were among their inspirations. There is no coherent definition of what this alleged God is, much less proof of its existence.
You have no idea what you're talking about. What's to figure? Those in control of what passes for the law mostly don't give a damn about good reasons, only reasons that serve to maintain their power base.
You can pretend gays aren't getting MARRIED all you want. In the meantime, they are GETTING MARRIED, going on honeymoons, and having all sorts of icky gay sex as MARRIED couples.
