Well Dennis,

I like President Obama because when I had a policy idea and sent a message to the White House, through their website, the Obama administration took actions that I thought were in line with my concerns. Obama himself even replied to one or two of my messages.

Obama is an ass. He's gone against American history, values, traditions, etc. for seven years. He hates America.

He's a radical leftist, which runs counter to what this country has been for 240 years.

Sure but what does that tell you about the Repubs. It's utter disaster or pathetic.

I have never been able to fathom the value of this analogy, other than as a justification for complacency. In Russia, the "pendulum" swung hard left in 1917 and stayed there for over 60 years, and I don't know that things have improved over there since the Soviet collapse.

MOD EDIT - Rule 3

No, it couldn't.

OK, give us the list of American values and traditions that Obama has gone against. The only one that occurs to me is racism.

Oh, and let me add religious intolerance.

This is true and you do bring up a good point. The reason that I think the analogy didn't work in the Soviet Union was that without a free and open society and without a free and open press, the pendulum isn't allowed to swing. I believe the western open societies press tend to overplay most of everything about a president so that after four or eight years, most everyone is sick of hearing about them. The more extreme the president is on either side of the political spectrum, the more the press will tend to explore every little aspect of the presidents life. So after a period of time, the public is sick of the President and by vicarious association, everything that they stand for. Because of personality fatigue, Americans tend to vote for those candidates that have diametrically opposite qualities that the current president seems to lack.

Trump is seen as strong while Obama is seen as week. The only explanation one has to see for the rise of Trump is to look at Obama.
Reagan was diametrically opposite to Jimmy Carter and that was enough to get into office, even when he was rejected as a candidate four years earlier.
Jimmy Carter was naive and innocent and that is diametrically opposite of Tricky Dick Nixon. How was Carter elected? He wasn't Nixon and that was enough.

So there seems to be real world mechanisms for pushing the pendulum back and forth and the pendulum does seem to have historic precedence. Does it always work? Who knows.

Obama is slightly left of bush, but still right of center.

I live in the United States. Obama is a leftist on the American political spectrum and for the sake of this argument is the only political spectrum that matters. Obama is wisely recognized by almost everyone, <Rule 2/3> as being the most leftist President the United States has ever had.

I am not sure how you got the idea that I am in favor of rounding up political opposition or immigrants, beings how I have never mentioned any of that in over 4000 posts I have made, <Rule 3>

Obama is not even close to being the most leftist or liberal American president. You have had much more radical presidents than him.
Except for the American right wing bubble I doubt many see him as a particularly leftist president.

You as in the Republican party. You may not be a Republican or one of the Republicans who do but It seems that at least 30% of Republicans do support those things.

I just don't understand how people can make such factually incorrect statements like this? Obama is slightly left of bush, but still right of center on the political spectrum.

Okay, if you say so. Which American Presidents were more leftist than Obama? What policies did they enact that were more leftist? Certainly one could make the argument for Franklin Roosevelt, but Roosevelt was leftish in domestic affairs only and rather hawkish on foreign affairs while Obama was soft and squishy on both foreign and domestic matters.

I am not a member of the Republican Party and I never have been. Furthermore, I will never be a member of the Republican Party. Even so, I have not heard even a single Republican state that political opponents should be rounded up or non-Americans should be rounded up. I have heard plenty of people who are leftists and Democrats espouse those extreme views.

Lyndon, Lincoln, FDR, Carter and more. Obama has done very little except ACA to change the country compared to the past decades.

If you follow the forum you cannot have avoided those posts calling for rounding up political opponents. Neither the words unamerican, jail and even treason when talking about Democrats or the president.

My apologies for thinking you were a Republican. You do sound like one.

No he is left of them. The only thing stopping him from implementing more is the republican congress and governors.

The only positive thing I can say about Obama is, his time is almost up. We can only pray that something does not happen to trigger martial law. Allowing him to stay in power for the duration. I am not going to get my hopes up though.

After a new administration, Obama and his, will be exposed for what was really going on. Then with no doubt, he will be the most leftist and un-American president ever.

Carter was running not against Nixon but against Ford, who was portrayed by the media, perhaps not without some justification, as a bumbling clod; and of course pardoning Nixon didn't do much for his stature either. As for Reagan, had the media had its way, his strength would have been perceived by the electorate as Hitlerian. So what I see as missing from your analysis is the increasingly leftist bias of the MSM, to say nothing of the education system.

Here is something that I finally figured out about him, partly due to the article that I quoted in the opening post.

http://www.politicalforum.com/showthread.php?t=437309&p=1065665069#post1065665069

Why Mitt Romney lost in 2012. Hard to oust an incumbent President.

...........Frankly...… President Obama probably would have won back in 2008.

Just last week I read an article with several quotations from the President that made me realize that he is a man both of courage as well as conviction. He is not your typical politician willing to say just about anything to get votes.

............................... Although I vehemently disagree with the content and the flavor of his words...… President Obama deserves credit for speaking the truth as he personally saw it at that time!

He is an astonishingly powerful public speaker and obviously his courage......… and willingness to have people angry with him..... are two of the reasons why he does such moving speeches and lectures.

71 posts, and not one person pointed out the OP was a made up piece of satire the OP fell for.

Too funny.

Sorry...................... I should have known better...… the statement about his wife should have given it away to me. The guy who sent it to me is quite sincere and reasonably well informed so I thought that the article was probably based on some actual statements from back in 2007 or 2008, but.... you are correct.... I should have known better.

I assumed that President Obama was well informed about some of the worst times in American history and was courageously beginning to address the injustice of that time....... but that was an error.

He has a little over a year left in office until the next President of the United States is sworn in....... and there are certain things that I could imagine him doing that could almost completely make up for the seven essentially wasted years, (imho), in office so far?????????!

If I was on Obama's side of his purpose to destroy the U.S. economy, then I would have plenty of positive examples of how well he accomplish that. However, i am not on his side so I have nothing positive to add.
