The thing is, in the absence of perfect information, generalizations are what we have to work with. We are accepting too many immigrants of every variety as it is. Why not be selective? We should be extremely selective, like other countries. Muslims are overwhelmingly conservative--even if they usually aren't dangerous, they have values totally alien to our own. If there is a list with a limited number of slots, I can think of a lot of other immigrants I'd rather have.

 

Yeah, we hate Muslims. We don't have to know them to hate them. Whoever that offends, we don't care. We condone profiling them, torturing them, when Israel kills Palestinians, we are thrilled. Muslim hate runs much deeper than Russian hate did during the Cold War.
We don't hate Mexicans. Illegal immigration is a political talking point. It's a topic that has been employed for two decades that nothing has been done about. I doubt anything will be done about it.

Wanting to ban all Muslims because a tiny percentage are terrorists is similar to Japanese internment in WWII. That's my point. If you want to ban Muslims based on the actions of a few, then the same logic says we should ban everyone, because every group has its "terrorists."
