Pleaaaase. Most of us who were labeled like that by liberals probably haven't met enough of muslims or mexicans to actually think anything of them in the first place. We don't even know them, let alone hate them. And some of the more enlightened people among us understand Mexicans played a crucial role in shaping the culture of Southern America, and a lot of the guys supporting Trump are half Mexican. Oh and, without the Muslims, Western civilization as we know it, won't exist because all those precious ancient literature would've been lost.

That said, we are not fearing or loathing, we are law-abiding and cautious. The thinking goes like this: we don't break laws ourselves, so we'd expect you to not break them. Come here legally. No one said no nothing about a Mexican exclusion act. This is the law-abiding part. The cautious part? A Muslim, had a stable job, had a college education, lived in California for most of his life, decent wages, but all it took was one trip back to Saudi Arabia and he was radicalized and end up killing 14 of his colleagues. And I'm not even getting to those Muslim Americans cheering the 9/11 youtube videos. So how about we be more cautious and give the whole Muslim immigration process an overhaul?

But according to liberals, we are a bunch of racist xenophobes. Thousands of Americans died because of radical Islamism but we are not even suppose to raise our brows?

Mexicans have transformed large swaths of SoCal into a 3rd world country...

It's a warzone in the south... I'm not sure as to how to put but, it truly is guerrilla warfare from Anti-Government/Terrorist organizations. The cartels need to be destroyed or strangled ASAP.

It's easier to speak a convenient lie than to be active on a tough truth. The wall would help enormously with limiting illegal aliens and vetting people coming into the US or limiting it is preferable.

All but two of my cousins are Hispanic (my uncles married Mexican women). I used to work with a bunch of illegals in a warehouse, and they were my drinking buddies until somebody reported them. I've got no racism in me when it comes to Latinos, but immigration is killing wages in this country and needs to stop. I don't support mass deportations, but the spigot, at the very least, needs to be turned off. As for Muslims... Why do we need any? Why do we need any immigrants, beyond the rare, brilliant scientists? No one has answered that question.

Not supporting illegal immigration here, but ....

Apparently we don't need this anymore:

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
    With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

The country wasn't settled then, as I explained in my "essay" in another thread. Totally different era, totally different economy.

If there is an influx of industry (Which we don't have!) and there is a lack of resources (Humans!) than we'll need everyone. The best part is that they'll better assimilate when they working along side other Americans. When the jobs are back than we can start accepting everyone. But as for right now you're right. Why do we need immigrant truck drivers, stockboys, etc? Doesn't make sense.

Meh, anti brown sentiment seems to be a common theme in the rising tide of right wing nationalism and fascism.

Blame Mexicans for job loss, blame Muslims for being different. Yeah, that seems to sum up the current popular wave in the GOP.

Therefore, if we warned you of an impending threat of any kind, no matter how valid, you might as well dismiss it since we are right-wingers, huh?

Very, very smart. I might as well become a climate-denier since liberals are worried about global warming--they just have to be wrong about everything.

I always consider a source's motivation for passing on information. I find that hardly ever is the information about others passed on for my personal good.

    Islam isn't a race.

    It's just a pathetic religion.

Sorry, I think that's a bogus assertion. Our country is far from "full", and we have gotten where we are thanks to the energy and drive of our immigrant forebears. That energy and drive remains. As Bill Murray said in "Stripes"', "Our ancestors were kicked out of every self-respecting country in the world." And they came here to make a better life, and created a superpower in the process.

That's still what people want, and those people are still an asset to us and our future. There is room for them in our country and our economy. And I think that turning our backs on them is not only a practical mistake, but a betrayal of long-standing American values.

I never said it was a race.

As for pathetic, seems to be the same as any other, a way for a few at the top to manipulate others by vague promises of utterly unsubstantiated eternal life.

    Glad somebody finally noticed.

Any rebuttals to this? Or did you just happen to notice these two recurring themes?

No, it's a violent gutter religion, unlike say, Christianity.

Implying Muslims are all "brown people" makes it sound you think they're a race.

People choose to be Muslim. Just like they choose to be illegal aliens.

I don't think either group adds anything of value to the USA.

Instead of just assuming it is a bogus assertion, why don't you think about it, for just a second. If the country weren't saturated, then wages wouldn't go down in response to labor surpluses. You really need to examine the economic logic. Sorry, but if you think it is valid to compare the onset of the industrial revolution with the structural employment of today, you need to do some more research. This sounds like a knee-jerk, emotional reaction based on white guilt and the compulsion to help "brown" people.

Of course the country can theoretically handle a larger population, but you don't just allow millions of people to pour into the country with no regard for where we are in the business cycle and what the effect on wages is. I'll tell you what, the poor people of this country are totally justified in pursuing criminal endeavors if this is the attitude you guys have. (*)(*)(*)(*) it, who cares about their wages, it's not my problem. Really guys?

Also, what part of "you don't get to tell other people what to do" is so hard to understand? Why is it legitimate for you to force me to accept immigration. Why do Americans have an obligation to accept immigrants? Why?

Shameful. The real reason you guys like it is to get votes, and you don't care what the results of this policy are.

No, people simply judge what Muslims and illegal immigrants have done in this country, and then they weigh the pros against the cons.

I feel we'd be better off without both groups.

We really need to call them out on this a lot more. This blatant buying of votes by democrats is so obvious, yet it's just swept under the rug, rather than calling them out on it.

It's like the voter ID thing. It's soooooooo obvious that they don't like voter IDs because it means there will be fewer people voting for democrats. They know it, we know it, and all we have to do is point the motive out, rather than going down that long dusty side road of constitutionality (which it is certainly constitutional).

so kudos for calling this illegals for votes scam for what it is.

So you don't HATE Muslims, you just choose to tar the entire group with the actions of a very few, and use that to justify an extreme response.

So not hate, just run of the mill prejudice and xenophobia. Got it.

Stopping illegals from entering the country is racist, not wanting potential muslim terrorists is bigotry.
They've received their marching orders, there's no backing out now because it's virtually impossible to convince a liberal they were wrong all along.

You can point out the Democrats agenda behind voter ID as long as you want. They'll just point out the opposite motive for the Republicans. This gets you nowhere.

There was a time when white immigrants hated each other, Irish, Italian, German,Polish... It's basic human nature, and it continues to this day. Nothing the OP can say changes any of that. Sure, lock out the Muslims and Mexicans. Doesn't matter. Haters will hate, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.
