I wish it was so. But...
    1. The history of the world is the history of wars and armies. When the big guys were tired of fighting themselves for power they got mercenaties. When mercienaries proved to be too few to stay against the massive army of feudals - the whole system of society changed and every group of peasants were working to equip a group of knights. Later the weaponry became more massively used and there was no longer need for the ruling class of warriors. But there came the armies of the new age like WWI and WWII. The weapons were getting more and more lethal which kinda proved that there is no use to spend efforts trying to organise millions of people into somewhat like an army. Just because these millions would become just an aim for any WMD...
So. Now the situation is different. The weapon gets more and more complex and the contest is about seconds of WMD delivery and the very ability to understand that the war is already and the people rioting in the streets is mostly a group of specially trained people, whose job is to parralyze the decision making of a state for some minutes, which would be enough for the 'preventive' nuking. The new plane is the continuation which will have to concentrate enourmous power in hands of its pilot and a growing temptation for a politician to play with such a toy in real politics. Which is mostly the second

    2. Politicians nowadays are no longer kings or tzars who not only announce the decision, but also actually make it. The true decision making is done at financial corporations, who already proved to do whatever crime for a good profit. Most often the political positions are traded, inherited or presented. This reduces the possibility of a really motivated and able man to get through the face control of those political parties, media etc. And the guys of 2nd or 3rd generation are ill-bred kids. They like everything to be the way they say. And wasting the world into pieces is not smth sompletely inappropriate.

    3. The war has always been the only way for competitors to solve conflicts of interests. Indeed in case that only one the two survives - it makes all clear who is the loser and who is the winner. The history of politics without the war established after the WWII which is very recent thing. The history of different decisions is short and was mostly nothing but deceiving opponents. At the moment the guys in the competition have already depleted all the sophiticated methods of deceiving each other and there is not that much to do really but making war.

    IMHO

Your point two is where you are tripping up. There is not profit in mutually assured destruction. The money people DO love conflict. But they need regional and low level conflict. They do not want NATO, Russia, China type conflicts. If it is picking on an inferior country then sure. But large scale war now means the destruction of the corporation. Shareholders dislike dieing

What if the risk of financial crisis means more harm to them and more losses than a risk to die in a secret bunker full of things they like for another 1000 years? I don't say that it is so, I cannot say it isn't so. People are different. And watching the direction where it is going to I don't expect any humanity in 'shareholders'.

Lets break this down Major war with major powers= everyone dead and no money or most everyone dead and a few people in bunkers and again not money. ..
minor war with minor powers = profits and vacation in Maui

We are not talking ideologies here we are talking proffit. Always follow the money in this new world of ours.

Please provide a link; and one that actually contains the quote itself (not a mere assertion, by another, that this was said)...

Nowadays, wars are informational and economic. But there are a losers, that have no strong economic, so they can`t afford modern economic war, but they still have angry and envy. So they use past century methods: military occupation and expand living territory, but not expand standards of living for its current society.

For example, Russia: weak economy, low standards of living, low life expectancy, scant science. And average Russian`s surge of joy is military aggression and occupation of sovereign territory, war against neighborhoods. We can see, Putin`s rating is on the top with every such war.
Some people want a small victorious war to treat self-esteem.

This has nothing to do with Canada. It's all about Russia's irresponsibility. Start another thread if you want to spread your ignorance of the developed world.

Things are getting serious. Nato is pushing it too far, they now want to extend themselves into the Black Sea area to surround Russia completely, and it's beginning to constitute a real threat to Russia's security... and that is something Russia will not tolerate.

I'm just relieved that it wasn't a hypersonic stealth fig. I mean, how could you catch it to eat it. Whew!

Russia is already surrounded. Maybe Russia should take the hint.

By the way. You've been saying that for 3 years now.

These posters follow the neo cons with their 'Trotskyite' policies of perpetual war. It doesn't matter how many die so they can achieve their new world order.

Let's just call it 'Sociopaths Galore'. :wall:

How many threads in just the last month have you made about how Russia should go to war with everyone else. You've actually called for the invasion of Russia's neighbors and the preemptive nuclear annihilation of the entire United States. YOU are the warmongerer on this forum. YOU are the aggressor. YOU are the sociopath.

    Tsk, tsk, projecting again?

    Britannica -

A common form of projection occurs when an individual, threatened by his own angry feelings, accuses another of harbouring hostile thoughts.
