No, we all die. I tell you the laugh your side has is voting for the dead Democrats keeps happening in some states. We do not delete those who have legal standing to be voters. There is no way to determine race or income off voter registrations.

Maybe the discussion should be about the federal system of government, since you obviously don't understand it.

Let's start small....the three types of States are federations, confederations and unitary States.

Actually, parties identify their constituents quite easily. That is why you hear about long lines at polling places at universities, Hispanic districts as in AZ, etc. - long because they were given inadequate equipment and disporportionately few polling places.

The 14th amendment came in 1868, and was ratified by the states, obviously.

The idea that equality is something a state may deny is not acceptable. Equality abdolutely is a right that may not be denied without serious justification.

The only reason conservatives want to preserve the electoral college is because they're a dwindling minority and they would lose every presidential election without its help.

I remember the discussion on the EC in 2012 because I commented on it here. I said exactly what I've said so far this time around.

What about Conservatives in the metropolian areas who were denied their vote? There were people like me, who feel a stigma in a Philadelphia(or Northern Pennsylvania in general) and a similar challenge here in Detroit. Voter suppression isn't done by the political parties, but even more by the sheer number size.

If we ALL truly had an equal vote, we'd feel like our vote matters. But it doesn't. And both sides have a right to gripe there too.

Translation: You believe only New York and California should decide the election.

If one is a poll worker, how can they tell the following?
    1. Who you are
    2. If you voted at another poll area
    3. If you are voting pretending to be the dead person whom died earlier
    4. If you are a citizen

Well, back when I voted at a polling place I signed the voter registry at my polling place, and they had my signature from my voter registration. They gave me this little credit card thing if my signatures matched, and a machine may or may not have put my votes on that card - there was no way of knowing.

Now, my state doesn't have any polling places, because they have far too many different problems that affect election outcomes. We use a process that is a little like the absentee systems that exist in all states.

So, no poll workers who are clueless on the law. No voting machines. No "poll watchers". No assaults like misdirection on when to vote. No travel time to polling places, causing low income workers to miss hours. No lines. No unfair allocation of polling places or equipment. No changing ID requirements. And, it is cheaper for the state!

Without going into it in detail (unless you want) I am registered, so the state mails me a ballot that has a bar code identifying me. I mark the ballot and sign my name. When by ballot is counted, my signature is compared to the state registration database entry for me. There is a procedure for the case that the signatures don't match.

    Sparked more questions

    1. What proof does the state or county have you are a citizen
    2. Do you prove your age
    3. Do you show any proof ever to them-- of any form

CA has no system to handle any of that

They simply trust you to be honest

And we know all humans are honest, eh?

These are questions relating to registering to vote.

I don't know what CA requires for voter registration. It differs from state to state.

I had a voter registration card and still had to show my driver's license. That's in Mississippi.

You need an id to do anything nowadays. Drive, drink booze, fly on an airplane. Why is it a big freaking deal to have it vote. Beyond rediculous.

You realize that Trump is going to be President, either way, right? They aren't just going to say "ok, even though we've done this our entire life as a nation, we're going to postpone the election because the left wing is butt hurt, get rid of the EC, and pick Hillary".

LOL you guys are in another world!!!

Some states will always be disenfranchised regardless of the system we use. Since this is the case, it makes more sense to use the system most people want, which is the popular vote exclusively.

Or maybe we ought to elect our governors by an electoral college as well? We never voted for senators until about a century ago. Maybe we ought to return to having state legislatures selecting our senators. Maybe some of the people in your state never have a voice in choosing your governor and senators.

In this case you would basically have only California decide for the country since California is the only reason Hillary has the popular vote lead that she has now. I'm sure you think having California decide the presidency while disenfranchising the rest of the country is democratic.

Lets do away with the Senate while we are at it. Hell lets do away with SCOTUS and all appointed leaders as well. The people must vote, and majority rules....

This is a Democratic Republic, it is the United STATES of America not the United State of America. Why does North Dakota have the same number of Senators as California and Florida?

We need to bring civics class back to every grade level along with more focus on the history of fallen empires. It seems many have forgotten history and as such, we are doomed to repeat it.

    <Sarcasm intended>

I didn't read this whole thread.......
Has it been mentioned that up to 3 million illegals voted for Hillary?
You do believe that only American Citizens should vote, don't you?
Take away the illegal vote and Trump clearly won the popular vote.

Do you all understand the reason for the Electoral College? All the reasons?

    Good point.

With a popular vote system, everyone's vote counts.
