Trump has set himself up to fail from day one by promises that are impossible to implement. The political system has inertia which prevents the implementation of irrational rash acts and instead promotes reasoned, thorough vetting of law.

Trump has embarrassed himself before he starts by promises he cannot deliver. This is apart from the current brewing storm of illegitimacy that may cause Trump to be resisted by Democrat lawmakers.

Blah blah blah. Democrats repeating themselves in thread after thread after thread adds up to nothing.

Who proved incapable of keeping campaign promises has been Obama.

This is honestly just the same things being repeated over and over without any basis in fact. It's simply "hoping" he doesn't do well.

Do you want it closed? Costs in excess of $1M per year per prisoner (adding other costs, that figure has been estimated as $4M). Republicans stopped any attempt by Obama to close it every time

Clearly Trump supporters do not care if he was lying about his plans...or playing a role. I even created a poll here on this subject and rather than click a button to vote they attacked me for freakin' asking in the first place. This is a sad state of affairs.

I just read through that poll. Didn't see any personal attacks. Did notice you were the first to receive a mod post modification though. Leftists are accusing Trump of thin skin. Pinch yourself.

Politicians always over promise and under deliver. That's the nature of the job. Obama did it, Bush did it, Clinton did it, etc.

I think his goal now should be to sit down with Congress and advocate for legislation which retains the bulk of his ideas, with practical modification.

For instance, I highly doubt Mexico will ever pay for his wall. Instead, build it with tax dollars and implement an Australia style "if we catch you here illegally you get a lifetime ban" policy. No travel, no nothing.

I don't agree with this, but it makes sense politically.

To adapt your ideas to the reality of political life is the mission of all Presidents.

The Novelty Act's affliction, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, renders him incapable of embarrassment, and his cult indulges in an adoration that is utterly impervious to rational considerations, such as the blatant exposure of his ingenuous campaign pledges.

One might objectively maintain a wish fulfillment list of 282 of the pitch man's promises and present an empirical tabulation that measures precisely how spurious his vapid hype is, but that would not impact the blind faith of his faithful in the least. They constitute a cult of the Narcissistic personality and, as such, are controlled by emotion, not reason.

He is their Messiah, and they will become hysterical if held to standards of veracity that pertain to ordinary mortals.

After all, only a crackpot would have expected him to actually construct an all-expense-paid "big, beautiful, wall" of concrete and rebar 35-65 feet in height, stretching along the nation's southern border. That's nuts.

Or conjure up the 1950s and 60s for coal mining, the steel industry, and large-scale manufacturing.

These dudes are taking precautions against The Great Flatu's fairy dust, not coal dust!

Right.... and for him winning the nomination and winning the election was also impossible to accomplish, remember?

At any rate, this absurd Trump-haters' "all or nothing" gibberish is fooling Trump-haters only and no one else, not his supporters, not even his reasonable skeptics. If in the next 4 years Trump merely begins to change the course and makes even tiny progress on his signature campaign issues like jobs, immigration, trade deals and NATO member contributions - he will have earned his place on Mt. Rushmore and will be guaranteed a landslide victory in 2020.

Chances are though, he will make more than a "tiny progress", chances are, in the next 4 yeas the immigration issue will be solved with or without the wall and manufacturing jobs will be created in the US, not Mexico or China.

It would be far better to just drag them outside and out bullets in thier heads but what I want really isn't the point. The point is, closing Gitmo was one of Obamas key campaign promises and it is one that he utterly broke. And yet no complaints from the left cultists.

And that's the thing the left doesn't get. We just spent 8 (*)(*)(*)(*)ty years of obama and to a lesser extent 8 years of bush. Trump literally only needs to do a single thing in the next 4 years and he would be a smashing success and shoe in for 2020. And we don't even have to hold our breath for that one thing because we already know a Supreme Court Justice is in the bag so there it is. That one thing will make trump a success. Never mind the fact that he is definitely going to accomplish far more.

I don't care. He made a promise. He didn't keep it. The why is irrelevant. And that's just one campaign promise. There are plenty others.

Thank you leftie/socialists. By the end of this week you will need a troop of Boy Scouts to untie the knots in your stomach. The desperation is just beginning. I can't wait until he starts replacing and appointing judges. That is one promise I hope he follows through in the first couple of weeks of his first of two terms in office.
