So where is the push for the CDC to investigate automobile accidents, which injure and kill far more people? And certainly the CDC should investigate the military and do studies on police shooting and all killings. Definitely should study all products to avoid children and adults being injured by defect products. Really, the CDC should run the government and make all laws because wouldn't it be a good idea to keep people safe? But then it isn't called the Center for Injury Control, is it?
The cdc does study auto accidents http://blogs.lawyers.com/attorney/a...ost-u-s-economy-100b-annually-cdc-study-8293/ They study lots of other things too. LOL
why is it that everyone who wants the CDC to study "gun violence" are people who want to restrict the constitutional rights of gun owners in the USA?
There is nothing that CDC could find that hasn't already been proposed as a justification for more gun restrictions. Studies can't invalidate Constitutional protections, and in states where the Democrats have a majority they've passed laws without any scientific basis at all.
Simple: They want taxpayers to fund an "authoritative conclusion" they can use to push their nonsensical agenda. In reality, they know they've lost the battle, and with the upcoming changes to the SCotUS, they know they are likely to lose the war.
There seems to be real terror in the hearts of the pro gun crowd if science is used to examine gun deaths.
There is nothing that CDC could find that hasn't already been proposed as a justification for more gun restrictions. Studies can't invalidate Constitutional protections, and in states where the Democrats have a majority they've passed laws without any scientific basis at all. 1. Suicide: http://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/suicide/ there's your answer for 2/3 of gun deaths 2. Accidents: People are neglectful and forgetful. They don't follow the four rules of safe gun handling, and they forget to lock the damn things up. 3. Homicides: a. People get angry b. People get drunk or high c. People have no respect for life d. People hate other people e. People feel that they have no self worth, and want more people to hurt like they do, and for everyone to know their name. What else would you expect from CDC?
For the same reason one does not stick their hand in a fire, long after having learned that it is hot, it is dangerous, and that it will cause severe damage. It is simply a waste of time for them to study something they have already studied in the past, and uncovered nothing conclusive. Beyond which it is a waste of taxpayer funding that could be used for more important purposes, than trying to understand why some people choose to commit homicide with a firearm.
I wonder why the left doesn't donate money to the CDC for the study they want? I mean, nothing stops them from doing so.
Science is not the same thing as logic. Scientists have no worth if they do not carry out study after study, and intentionally leave results vague and inconclusive enough to allow them to say that further research is needed, and more funds can be allocated to them. It is called job security. Do you repeatedly slam your skull against the wall, simply so you can determine if the results will differ from the last time?
Heck, the CDC actually outsources those studies anyway. https://www.cdc.gov/Mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/rr5214a2.htm Nine authors. One from CDC.
Appropriate, given that if the anti-gun side could not argue with fallacious appeals to emotion, ignorance and/or dishonestly, they'd be silent.
So anyone could fund those studies, like Bloomberg funds Johns Hopkins and Harvard School of Public Health. Heck, start a go-fund-me.
We have: https://www.cdc.gov/Mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/rr5214a2.htm http://dhss.delaware.gov/dhss/cdcfinalreport.pdf No matter what they find, it cannot override Constitutional protections. Every single reason that the CDC could possibly find for gun violence has already been used for justification for new gun laws. If you want to change gun laws, why not have the DOJ do the investigation?
Indeed. There's no sound reason for the CDC to investigate what's been investigated a zillion times over - save for predictably favorable conclusions, thinks the anti-gun left - especially when tax dollars are in play.
