Just recently I did the Ancestry.com thing and found an enormous amount of info on my heritage. I even took a DNA test that helped confirm everything. I found out that one of my ancestors was an African American and was also a slave. Now the DNA test showed less than 1% African heritage but if I go by the old one drop rule, I am officially black. I do not look black.....but can I claim to be? After some research I saw where there is no rule on this. What is the forum consensus?
I don’t know. What if I want to benefit from affirmative action? It kinda does not seem right to claim black but look white....
Claim whatever you want. If some agency sues you you must then pray your one drop theory will hold up in court. Good luck with that
The one drop rule is an old one. I do not believe it is used now. But I never thought of getting sued. Even more of a reason to find out now. It is different than say identifying as a different gender. Most trans folks try to appear as the gender they identify as.
You have to wear blackface at all times, then join the NBA or NFL and commit disproportionat amounts of crime. Only then can you scream victim and gain AA and get reparations. Having several babies and a few abortions would be added credentials. Your race card is on its way.
You should start demanding people call you African American. - - - Updated - - - That's a good point. Conservatives need to start a transracial movement.
yep, your part black like Obama is part white, you would qualify for reparations just save the test as proof .
As so call race is not a scientific classification and as far as I am aware there is no current legal definition either so I see no barrier as far as you deciding the issue.
Is it not interesting that since President Trump came into power some of us seems to feel like it now ok to express racist feelings/ideas that no one had dare to express since the 1960s and then only in the deep south. From the first black president to the first racist president in many generations. We are indeed living in interesting times.
Since we are now free to select our gender, why shouldn't we be free to select our color? Perfectly reasonable, so long as you don't think about it...
Black is ill defined. It certainly isn't skin color because this person is considered black It isn't facial features because thus man is considered black So what makes a person black?
every human on earth has a drop of African blood, just as every dog on earth has a drop of wolf blood.
You may even self-identify as a black lesbian woman. In fact, if we all did, why we would all go to the front of every line, and what could be more fair than that!
If you spent $100 on Ancestory.com DNA genealogy search, you should have just bought some ammo with the money. Anecetory.com DNA genealogy test gets a very low rating for accuracy. An accurate DNA genealogy test cost thousands of dollars. Everyone I know including I have a problem with the results, they don't jive. But almost all caucasians who did the DNA test show 1% being black. I think it has to do is that your great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great. great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great. great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great. great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great. great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great. great grandmother's name might have been Lucy.
