you do know that the vast majority of the country does not like the republican rewrites of the ACA so why would the dems vote for it?

Shouldn't they have learned by now to ask McCain first?

It's okay - even if you were criticizing me for it I understand the objection (I have a nephew with a mental disability, as well) but I just wanted to clarify the context I use that term in. I apologize for associating people with mental disabilities with the Democrats who passed/support ObamaCare.

Actually, while I supported Rubio over Trump because I thought Marco had a better chance of winning the general, I didn't vote in the Virginia primary. My boy Rand dropped out of the race before we went to the polls so I was done with the primaries after that point.

    What a great momento.

I don't agree with Rand on everything, either, but his politics are the most similar to my own. I also think the libertarian wing of the GOP is the future of the party and we're already seeing people from the Libertarian Party defect to the GOP because they think they've got a better shot of influencing politics and policy from the Republican Party. I hate to say it, but the LP is hopeless, and unless there's a change in leadership, strategy and tactics I think it is going to remain hopeless (I used to be a member of the LP so I have some insight into this).

To put it mildly. It could wind up being a political bloodbath for both parties.

I also think this is really going to test Trump's mettle. Since the Senate can't get its act together this fight is moving into his corner and I hope he's ready and willing to step up and take off the gloves because the Left isn't going to play nice or fair. It never does.

What is good for this country letting obamacare implode?

No. I can't find a problem. I've thoroughly documented why I make my claims about McCain but thanks for being about the dozenth person
to try this path. You are all missing the point.

It's disgusting that the Democrats won't come to the table in a bipartisan way unless they get everything they want like little babies. It's called COMPROMISING, people. Dems are certainly not innocent here and Americans know it. It's disgusting that Republicans who have been screaming about replacing Obamacare for 7 long years won't seal the deal when it counts. The swamp in DC is alive and well and who gets screwed?? The American people who voted them in to get things done! I, for one, am sick of Congress period. They are a bunch of do-nothings who are looking to make themselves wealthy off the backs of the American people...when and IF the repeal takes place, they should have to pay the same as regular Americans and not get some sweet deal like they have now...

Explain how you won't pay for the guy without insurance......

Those that "don't want t anyways" don't have the means to pay when they do use the system.

Mostly they are the "young indestructibles" and they pay cash for what medical care they get. At least they did before Obama care.

They shouldn't. But I was referring not only to this, but past history. Best example is Obamacare, the vast majority of the country was against it, yet each senator voted the party line basically telling most of America to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. I'm talking history here. The Democrats have always had a lot easier time to get their folks to toe the party line than the GOP.

if this bill includes refundable tax-credits for all poor and middle class americans to buy health insurance than it is just another entitlement program.

    something Conservatives claim to hate.

Maybe so but I would rather believe that he understands that the issue of health care financing, and that us what it is, financing is too important to have Republicans make the same mistake that Obamka's Democrats made. The Democrats were somof themselves since they had the votes and they created a health care financing system that only solved 70 of the problem. Obamska shoukd have let us onsurance people solve the problem not do gooders, after all us insurance folk are the experts not politicians.

insurance folks are experts at making money and trying to squeeze savings out of all customers and doing their utmost to restrict medical care.

Not exactly! We do ( past tense forme I am retired from the dark side) keep costs down but try to squeez the most out of our health care dollar.
We do not restruct medical care but we guard against missuse, over payment, duplicate. payment for unnecessary rocedure , overlapping procedures, over utilization, incorrect utilization, and all sorts of other ills."

Two things here, one "DeathCare bill" and "horrendous piece of legislation" and "unknown legislation" what is it? Contradictory at the very least. How could you know this if it's unknown? Second, you don't like the fact that we have to pass it in order to know what's in it ? Hypocritical BS.

Dems did not get elected to repeal and replace the law. Thats not a promise they are obliged to fulfill. They campaigned to amend and improve it . It would be a betrayal for them vote to destroy it with no more than a Monty Hall promise offering what ever is behind 'Door Number 2' as a replacement for health insurance access. Every time so far, 'Door number 2' as meant a hodgepodge of tax breaks for the wealthy, the defunding of planned parenthood, and a scheme to gut medicare.

Whenever you dispense with regular order, including a committee process, public testimony, and plenty of access for the Congressional Budget office. and working hard to hide what's behind the door, you are playing 'Lets make a Deal', with peoples lives . The kind of people who want to hide their bill and intentions from a public process, until the very last second, are not the kind of people we should be compromising with.

Actually, when it was passed in March, 2010, 49% saw the ACA as a "good thing", 40% as a "bad thing." A year later, approval had dropped by 3 points, and disapproval was up by 4. (http://news.gallup.com/poll/146729/One-Year-Later-Americans-Split-Healthcare-Law.aspx)

Democrats and Republicans both voted party line on the Affordable Care Act, despite Democrats having adopted 161 amendments offered by Republicans. (Mitch McConnell had declared the GOP's jihad against Obama, hellbent on denying him a second term.)

Democrats are, obviously, far less likely to support a Republican health care bill when they are not allowed to make any amendments, and especially since the ACA has now become more popular - thanks to the widely-loathed Republican alternatives that have been offered.
