Fascism is a meme of the left. Using violence to censor speech - right out of Hitler's use of the Brown Shirts. Controlling business and capital like in the energy sector - remember "killing coal"? Or how about gaining control of the internet sector with the Net Neutrality malarky?

Of course the relevance escapes you. Leftists like you live in a bubble of willful ignorance. You refuse to accept that most of the problems in the black community today are the result of Marxist Democrat policies. Daniel Patrick Moynihan warned the Marxist Democrats what they were doing clear back in the 60's - they didn't listen then and they aren't listening now. You are perfect proof!

I just gotta love knowing my neighbor is sitting on his couch drinking beer with nachos on his shirt while the national anthem plays and he biatches about all this.

You are kidding, right? Tebow has been roundly criticized by the left for his actions on the field! If he had protested abortion during the anthem the left would have hounded him out of the country, not just the NFL!

In North Korea and China you are saluting the RULER, not the country!

As Reagan said, the problem isn't how much the Democrats know, it is how much they know that is WRONG!

I think this was the bit they were talking about:

No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,

    Tradition?

It could be worse. You could disrespect every brave veteran who was ever captured in the service of this country. You know....saying something like "I like people who weren't captured".

There's also a tradition that you don't disrespect POWs. But I guess that tradition isn't important.

    THE TRADITION
The founding fathers did not do this "tradition"... so it is an invention

But, let's agree that this is a traditional way of showing respect. It does not logically follow that NOT following a tradition is a form of disrespect. There are many disrespectful things you could do during the anthem... quietly taking a knee does not seem to me a disrespectful act.... especially given the fact that in most other circumstance it is considered a highly respectful act. Giving a one fingered salute during the anthem would be understood to be disrespectful But taking a knee?

Anyway, a few other details. The NFL has been playing the anthem for more than 50 years.... so I have been seeing this ceremony on tv for a very long time. And I explicitly remember many occasions where players wandered around aimlessly. Chewed gum, did not cover their heart, etc. and basically ignored what they regarded as a pro forma ritual. Players have OFTEN ignored the anthem. If these guys were kneeling to call attention to the suicides of our returning veterans..., no one would consider this action disrespectful would they? As far as I can tell, the ONLY reason this is now considered disrespectful is because many people disagree with THE REASON for the action... which has nothing to do with flag, or country, or veterans, or national service

But lets go a step further. We have all probably watched a football game in a sports bar. And the so we have collectively watched the national anthem has being played on television. I do not recall ANYONE standing and covering their heart as this happened. If people do not entirely ignore the event, or have a swig of beer, or eat some pizza...they are just curious how the singer may butcher the song. So if we are concerned abou disrespect... head for any sports bar on game day

Btw, here is a video of trump forgetting to cover his hear until melania tweeted his hand to remind him. Does it mean anything? No, he just forgot. Is forgetting disrespectful? I don't think so.

In reference to sailors the British privateers would capture and force to fight for them. Not black people. That’s why hireling is in there as well. He’s saying even those that were just hired by or forced to fight for the British would not be safe.

Yeah, seriously when have I? It's cute America has their own tune, like nearly every country in the world does. Is it because I'm not an advocate for sending our own to die overseas? Is that it? I honestly don't know where you get the idea I "hate" America.

As soon as Kap started kneeling, the anthem went from another thing to a lightning rod for people to get on their high horses to preach to us what "real" patriotism is. So now fans, players and even Trump have made it into a dick-stroking contest to judge who's more American than the other.

It is truly absurd, false and even offensive to the protesting players to claim they are kneeling to "worship" the national anthem and American flag.

Was the goal to post an exorbitantly absurd message so extreme as to equate football players, some of the most physically fit men on earth to people in wheelchairs who can not stand?

Please link to anyone - literally anyone - on the forum or in the media claiming it is a "mortal sin" to not stand for the anthem. This is just another example of posting false claims and making absurd statements, and then ranting upon their own false and absurd claims.

A foolish question. The answer is the current American flag, specifically the flag at each game.

There is free software called "grammarly" you can download for free that would assist with your spelling and grammar. I'm not trying to be a grammar nazi, but the spelling and grammar in your message is atrocious and distracting.

... and anyone here would not be comfortable going to an actual Football Game, because ...

    NOT EVERYONE Stands ...
NOT EVERYONE puts their hand over their heart ...
NOT EVERYONE Even pay attention to The National Anthem ...

... Hell ... if anyone ever been to a Chicago Blackhawks Game, they'd know that people start Cheering and Hooping and Creaming halfway through the National Anthem ...

    Disrespected my ass ...

Look at the outrage of your own party.

It goes beyond this board. The people acting up, causing the NFL to lose ratings, DirecTV to refund advertisers, you guys are acting as if not standing for the anthem is a mortal sin. That idea doesn't just come from nowhere. Hell, even Donald Trump wants to have a law made demanding the NFL make their players stand for the National Anthem. Don't tell me the mortal sin comment is bogus, then not take into account the outrage from your own party.

And the question about people in wheelchairs? That's not a ridiculous question. You're getting salty over whether or not people stand up or not.
