No. At this stage of the war Japan was no longer a threat to America. Nukes were used to beat them. Plain and simple. Not to save lives but to take lives. No sugar coating it.
Most intelligent, educated people know that the invasion of Japan would have cost hundreds of thousands of lives on both side. They also know more people were killed in firebombing Tokyo than either Hiroshima or Nagasaki. http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/world-war-two/the-pacific-war-1941-to-1945/operation-downfall/ ...The Americans faced one very serious problem. They knew for sure that the Japanese would defend their territory with zeal and that American casualties would be high – probably too high for the American public to accept. The fanaticism that had been shown by the kamikazes, would almost certainly be encountered in Japan and the Americans had to plan for this.... ...The main concern for the Americans was the potential for huge casualty rates. Nearly every senior officer involved in the planning did his own research regarding American casualties – this was based on the experience America had fighting the Japanese since Pearl Harbour. The Joint Chiefs of Staff estimated that Olympic alone would cost 456,000 men, including 109,000 killed. Including Coronet, it was estimated that America would experience 1.2 million casualties, with 267,000 deaths....
This is true. The invasion of Japan would have cost more US lives. So they had three choices, nuke, invade, go home. Where the first two options involved beating Japan. Which was the goal. The war aim.
Guns and Butter my friend. The surest and most valid military strategy is to only ever fight a blind man, and that is something Russia is heavily invested in.
Where are you going to get your petrol from? Without supplies no soldier is brave. I'm sure you've heard that one before.
Germany deals with russia since 1000 years. I dont think we need american advises. If Germany and Russia are allied, we are absolute unbeatable. Thats the problem of america. Thats why it fears a German-Russian alliance so much.
Germany is an economic and technological super power. With our discipline and mind and general power, combined with russian rescources nothing in the world could beat us.
You realize Germany's GDP is $3.5 trillion dollars and the U.S. GDP is $18.6 trillion dollars. That's a pretty big difference.
You realize we run on a budget surplus, are export world master, have higher living standards and lower unemployment? You run on debt. You export not much and you have a continent. If we woild run your country, your GdP would be 40 trillion.
No, Germany lost both world wars. You come to this forum to post what you dare not post or say in your name in your country. If Germany ran our country, the NFL protesters would be in prison as would probably half the members of this forum. Germany is not a free society, but a regulated society in which each person is given a limited range of options as to employment and which industry/company is their master - and what is allowed to say and do is highest regulations and restricted. I do understand the short term profits of indigenous Germans essentially self sterilizing themselves as children are expensive and contrary to corporate interests. The German national motto should be "live for today because tomorrow we all die." Germany's long term national plans are outright social suicide in the most literal sense. You are in the last generation in which indigenous Germans control Germany - and even that is being rapidly surrendered to the Empire of Islam.
Yes, but i dont think we would like it. The task to rise USA to german standards would be gigantic. The infrastructure is rotten and outdated. Entire cities have 3rd world status. One third of people live on welfare and have a 3rd world mentality. There is gargantuan debt and we would need to use extreme austerity to make the country run on german economic standards.
You got some lies in there. But your point about the infrastructure is correct. We've carried the defense of the non-communist world for 70+ years. That's been expensive. While other countries have been modernizing, we've protected them. It's what we do.
Which of my points are wrong? 1. Rotten infrastructure? Check 2. large areas in 3rd world status like Detroit? check 3. Gargantuan debt? Check 4. large parts of population on welfare + extreme violence and crime levels? Check Before you "protect" others you should build up a functional healthcare system. Your protection btw is just a money laundring game for your military complex.
Your problem are not the US-intelligent and US-educated US-people (=¿brainwashed abstrahots?). Your problem is that every idiot and god know it is a crime to murder innocent human beings.
We are 3% of the size of the USA. And anyway such a statistic says nothing. He shows you a very concrete problem of Germany after the reunion. We are not able to integrate our own people any longer. He makes himself to a stranger in the own world.
You had for example also the choice not to nuke, not to invade and not to go home. Or "you" had also the choice to show the government of Japan the effect of a nuclear explosion without having to be a mass murdering nation - and perhaps existed also other possibilities ...
