At 93, Jimmy Carter is cutting loose.

The former president sat down with The New York Times recently and chatted about all kinds of subjects. The Times decided to play up the fact that Carter — one of the worst presidents in U.S. history — would love to go over to North Korea as an envoy.

But the Times is steadily proving how out of touch it is, and how it no longer seems to actually "get" what real news is.

Here are some major highlights from the interview:

    1. The Russians didn't steal the 2016 election.

Carter was asked "Did the Russians purloin the election from Hillary?"

"I don’t think there’s any evidence that what the Russians did changed enough votes — or any votes," Carter said.

So the hard-left former president doesn't think the Russians stole the election? Take note, Capitol Hill Democrats.

    2. We didn't vote for Hillary.

Carter and his wife, Roselyn, disagreed on the Russia question. In the interview, she "looked over archly [and said] 'They obviously did'" purloin the election.

“Rosie and I have a difference of opinion on that,” Carter said.

Rosalynn then said, “The drip-drip-drip about Hillary.”

Which prompted Carter to note that during the primary, they didn't vote for Hillary Clinton. "We voted for Sanders.”

    3. Obama fell far short of his promises.

Barack Obama whooshed into office on pledges of delivering "hope and change" to the country, spilt by partisan politics.
    /
He didn't. In fact, he made it worse.

"He made some very wonderful statements, in my opinion, when he first got in office, and then he reneged on that," he said about Obama's action on the Middle East.

    4. Media "harder on Trump than any president."

So much truth-which is so antithetical to the lefts current spin.

How will these (obvious) truths be received by a left wing still bitterly clinging to bizarre conspiracy theories?

Bravo, Mr. President. Perhaps, in his advanced age, time has come to make peace and say the truth? :applause:

Carter is a lib, and he was in over his head as president, but he's a fairly decent human being.

When will the left start to tear apart Jimmy Carter? They can't allow his commentary to stand.

Is there still time for the old fashioned, "Isn't it hilarious when this group dismisses and derides X for decades until X espouses a view with which they agree and suddenly X is clever/respectable?"

Do I need to toss in several dismissive and derisive emojis to complete the post?

Finally. A small but predictable push back against Carter.
Just because Carter wasn't the most effective president doesn't preclude him from ever after being right.
    Read his commentary....he is right!

I wasn't aware that formal statements and documents released by both the US and EU intelligence agencies constitute "bizarre conspiracy theories."

    Huh.

I think that much of Carter's positions can be traced back to Carter's desire for a post with Trump (you don't endear yourself to Trump by making any attacks on Trump) and his willingness to hold those he respects (Obama and Hillary) to a higher level of perfection. But much of what he says is accurate, though for reasons that the Trumpettes are not willing to recognize.

Russia's influence on the 2016 election is still the subject of multiple investigations, but there is no doubt that the Russian government sought and pursued multiple avenues of influencing individual voters to vote for Trump and against Hillary, targeted individual states, engaged in systematic efforts to undermine the trust of the american citizen in their own government, and were willing to engage in illegal behavior like hacking and unethical behavior like troll farms and micro-targeting facebook users.

They did vote for Hillary in the general election.

Obama did fall short of promises and goals. This is always the case and it is especially true when someone sets a lofty goal like settling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

And yes, the Media is harder on Trump than any other President. Trump has brutally assaulted the first amendment freedom of the press harder than any other President. Trump also ****s up more, lies more, and is unwilling to stop or apologize for either more than any other President.
