Then you're referring to institutional racism. I agree that racism doesn't exist in the law books any more. However it does exist in the minds of many people including police officers, jurors and judges. In fact it exists at every level of society including with our current President. So racism isn't legal any more. Racial bias however does exist. If you are not from America I recommend that you watch the movie 13th. You should also watch this video from the perspective of a White American who recognizes the racism that still exists in America. I will not speculate on your views on White Supremacy because I'm not familiar enough with you as a poster. I would have to review your post history however based on this exchange and the few I've had of you that I can recollect I am very suspicious of you. Are you denying being racist?
I'm referring only to institutional racism, not individuals. Though I must say that in my (fairly extensive) experience of a variety of different expressions of racism, in a variety of places around the world, white folk are the least racist on planet earth, by a good margin. I cannot accept (at all) that any kind of institutional, or even general personal, racism is a problem in a country which currently boasts non-whites as top place holders on the economic ladder. I'm not American, but I can read your stats on this. Go ahead, I want you to speculate. I have absolutely no fear of being labelled.
This all started with Michael Brown, a thug and thief. His life did not matter. However gunning him down in the street cost Darren Wilson his police career.
Here is the crux of the issue. How did he get to that point. It wasn't because of some supposed racist cop. He was on a path toward that end long before. One of Trump's campaign slogans dealt with the forgotten man. While he was referring to working class people, these kids are even more forgotten. Maybe we're right to not care what happens to criminals, but why shouldn't we care that ordinary kids become criminals. When do we evolve far enough as a society, that we will work to prevent them from becoming criminals in the first place. I know it's possible. I grew up in very similar circumstances to what these kids are. I'm not dead or a criminal, even though I viewed it as an option. We are all failing them. The disaster of our inner cities goes to all of our shame.
I can't agree with this. We're not "all" failing them, their parents are failing them. Each set of new parents has a decision to make - do I make sure my kids don't #### up, or do I not even try.
BLM members themselves and the kneeling football players since Black on Black crime is verboten subjects with them. I mean even for radical SJW warriors it's difficult to get ANYONE to believe that White people are to blame for Blacks victimizing Blacks. Essentially BLM is composed of the inveterate whiners among the Black population; and the nation as a whole is damn sick of the whining after eight years worth of Barack Obama and company practicing race-baiting and race-agitating . . . non . . . stop. So good luck with that.
But we are not failing them; the Dem Party is failing them. The Right of Center has endlessly pointed out HOW to get up and out; only the Dem Party politicians and their radical activist members are helping Blacks keep Blacks down.
The cycle will then repeat itself indefinitely. We will be forever burdened with a new generation of kids without hope. A new set of gangsters more violent than the previous generation. I essentially had no parents. I grew up in the 'hood(albeit before it was called that). I was on that path, yet something reached me. I can't identify what it was. I wish I could. I wish I could create a formula for saving these kids. All I know is that what we are doing now, this cancerous progressive ideology, is not helping. It's only making things worse.
Not exactly. Yes, you are correct when you say that the Democrats are to blame. That's not the whole story, though. Republicans have ceded the territory. Republicans are as good as Democrats when it comes to counting votes. Republicans know they won't get inner city (black) votes, so they're perfectly happy to ignore the root problems. They know they'll be called racists if they try to clean the progressive sewage from the schools. They're cowards.
At some point, you made a choice (most likely as an adult, since you lacked the guidance as a child) to do better. And because you live in America, you have full access to all the boons that those who succeed have access to. The end result being non-failure. You recognised that the only way out was hard work (whether via labour, or via self-restraint), and were okay with that.
Age 19. Enlisted in US Air Force. It was the only way of escape that I could see. They saved my life (I mean it).
Okay, yes, I can concede that point since I say the same thing (essentially) in regard to the Right ceding control of the nation's educational system to the Left and in not insisting that the Mainstream Media actually embrace and practice professional ethics. All of that is the fault of the Right. So . . . yes . . . in that regard I do agree.
Yet black officers are more likely to kill blacks than are white officers. And whites are more likely to be killed by police than are blacks after adjusting for general homicide rate or felonious murder of police officers.
Folks say "BLACK LIVES MATTER" because for too many people of authority in this nation, black lives DONT matter.
These activist groups rendered themselves illegitimate the minute they assumed guilt before proven innocence on the part of Officer Wilson. They assumed "hands up don't shoot" really happened and went bat **** from there. BLM is founded on that myth, and they didn't recant the claim after the event was proven to never have happened. They didn't at all amend their narrative once Wilson was exonerated by the Obama/Holder FBI. They acted like the results of the investigation never came out and they had everything right in the first place. The media are too cowardly to call them on it. And that is why I call them #BlackLiesMatter
