Like the adultery and sexual harassment, it's not the crime as much as it is the lying and perjury. You claimed you didn't know, I just pointed out you should have known. Now it's my fault for bringing up the truth. Clinton apologists can never listen to reason nor will they ever admit error. You knew he was a liar and an adulterer when you voted for him, didn't you, Renee?
Im not too worried about teaching house chores. If they want a clean house as adults, the solution is obvious. If they don't, I dont really see that as a problem. I do try to teach self-reliance in things like car repairs, home repair, etc. Im mainly concerned with teaching both kids emotional self reliance- being able to come to terms and accept lifes difficulties without someone else there to lean on. Leaning on someone else when they are available is great, but being unable to cope and be content by ourselves leads to very bad relationship choices and familial dysfunction down the road. I believe that in order to be happy *with* someone else (like, in a relationship) you first have to be able to be happy with yourself, by yourself. In my experience, women, in general, arent. Im trying to raise her to be one of the exceptions.
Teaching kids self-reliance is an important skill. Once they understand they can do things for themselves, they can learn on their own any tasks needing to be done regardless if it's learning to bake a cake (I'm self-taught) or change the oil in their car.
One of the funniest Hollywood kick-ass characters. If little girls and women want to emulate a Hollywood figure, they wouldn't be wrong to emulate Mindy Macready.
If some dude grabbed my balls it wouldn't be rape. In fact, (and this may go to the difference between men and women) I doubt I would think of it as a sexual assault at all. I would probably consider it an attack and act appropriately. But as I said in my previous comment, I was talking about actual rape, which is a violent non consensual act, not a gesture that you would wonder if you should email HR about.
An interesting topic: Is "sexual assault" worse than assault? We've talked about whether or not "hate crimes" should carry higher penalties than other crimes. Isn't it sexist to demand a higher penalty for a woman getting groped than a man beaten in the face or genitals?
Why does sexual assault have to be rape? Is that your only criteria? I have to laugh that you wouldn’t consider a man you didn’t know who has this great power over you who grabs your balls as not sexual. What about if he kisses you on the lips and tells you are not looking. I don’t know if you’re married or not or if you have a daughter but I would hate for them to come home and tell you that some man rubbed their breasts. Why would you consider a man grabbing your balls an attack? After all, he didn’t rape you..if a man grabbed my genitalia I wouldn’t call it a “gesture”
Who’s demanding a higher penalty? Sexual crimes are a different category. If a man is sexually molested against his will, his molester will get the same punishment as the man who molests a woman,
Maybe you’re meeting the wrong women! More and more women are opting not to marry....and they’re very happy!
What lies are you talking about? I really have to laugh at a trump supporter trying to be morally superior. You knew he was an adulterer, you knew he grabbed women against their wills, you knew he was a fraud so please don’t try and act like you are morally superior. By the way Clinton did a great deal for women. Trump is trying to take it away
No....we elect someone who is best for the country. I am sure if we knew about Monica Lewinsky and his inappropriate behavior we would not have elected him president. But obviously you have no problem voting for Trump with his immoral behavior. You weren’t t bought.... you were conned
i'm going to consider that you don't know a lot about men and are not up to speed on the latest science, but men and women are different. You can't devise a silly scenario like that one and expect the way a man would feel about it is exactly how a woman would. I'm both married and have a daughter, so I think you are almost trying to make a point here, but it doesn't quite come off, so I'm not sure what your point is? See my comment on men and women are different.
Of course men and women are different duh! I taught sex Ed ! But a lot of it is socialization. Yes I can expect the way a man could feel it’s a strange man in power kissed him on the mouth or touched his crotch or propositioned him. Saying men are different than women is trivializing how women react. Everyone reacts differently So I guess if your wife or daughter come home and tell you that they went for an interview and the man touched their breasts I guess you’ll say well that isn’t sexual assault. But you were saying that men react differently as though all men are the same and all women are the same. As we have seen from the news lately how some women didn’t know what to do and others did and some did what the men wanted them to do etc. we’re all different.. The reason I use men in the illustration for you is because the same way you feel about a man being indecent with you is the same way a woman feels . For some reason because you think it’s a man assaulting a woma. it’s not as bad for us. I have heard men say that it’s much worse for a man to get raped than a woman
Don't they all con us to a degree? I guess what I'm saying is, why only pick on one person. They all have a history which can be scrutinized. I can't remember a president who I really liked. Doesn't matter how I voted. I find, at least with Trump so far, he is trying to do some things which will help our country. Many others were more concerned about placating and that extended beyond our own borders where we all agree, we should limit our influence. I understand holding his feet to the fire, but much of the time, it's over tweets or what he said, not his actions.
I'm curious as to how you arrived at that conclusion from this thread? Really...what are you talking about? What are you basing these conclusions on?
We are on different pages if you believe that Trump is doing things which will help our country. I think he is the most destructive and divisive president I can recall and the rest of the world thinks so also, except for Russia of course. Yes I agree that many presidents acted improperly, but we elected them not knowing that they grab ******* and brag about it or that they kiss women against their wills. We never had a president who committed adultery with three wives. We never had a president who speaks so crudely that we are afraid for our children to hear him.
I haven't heard him say anything as president that my children would not have heard at any public venue. Public schools have much more crude language and the students actions are deplorable. Okay, they aren't an old ugly guy with a bad hairdo. Other countries don't like him for a few reasons I understand and agree with: ~he wants to stop paying the ineffective and horribly run U.N. a) we pay more than any other country and a loss of our income would shut them down b) we don't need the U.N. but like the idea of it as a kind of comfortable grandpa who is there for us ~he wants to take away all military support from Europe a) of course they bring lots of money to all European countries by purchasing power b) those countries we are stationed in don't have to be as accountable c) those countries don't have to spend as much on their own defense d) Russia loves that we are tied up there, so they are for it and will show force when we threaten to leave to scare folks ~he wants to renew trade policies a) I have not looked this up b) I'm pretty sure he is interested in reducing disparages in income and taxing, thereby reducing the cost of doing business in the U.S. and drawing more work for hopefully, all of us, here. I think that's good, but I doubt any other countries do. I bet they hate Trump. I'm tired and have a headache, or I'd think of more examples. What I see is, it's good if they hate us. We are on the same goal, but not the same interpretation, or perspective. I think those things you are concerned about are important, but less relevant to the ones I've posted. So, I tend to agree, but from a different perspective. I feel I know you. Do I? Do you know me IRL? Send me an email, if you do.
We may have met on another board. My kids have also heard the word son of a bitch but this is the president of the United States and that is disgusting . He isn’t a school kid.As a teacher I want to know how you would feel if I used the F word in my classroom, after all the kids all know the word. When somebody is so inappropriate and when somebody has no impulse control, we are in a very dangerous situation . I disagree that it’s good that other countries hate us. You may think we are all powerful but we need our allies. And I would also think by now you would know that trickle down economics Doesn’t work. Hope your headache is better
Which class? It depends. Sometimes it isn't and sometimes it's one of a few things which will get their attention. We have women teaching here that are being beaten by students. One, just recently in the news, was put in the hospital with brain injuries, if you consider a concussion a brain injury. I do. I didn't say that we don't need our allies. I'm inferring we don't get the respect we deserve because we are patsies and we offer monetary reward for things we should never concede. I hate that we are losing jobs to countries like China and our biggest businesses are taking work there which they should never have. Trickle down? sure, it only works when businesses care about long-term employment. They don't, yet. They will some day, again. It probably won't be in my lifetime. We can't make them care. We can't make anyone care. Socialism won't make anyone care. I have theories, but no answers. I'm not going to post them. Tell me privately. I want to know. Maybe we don't know each other? I've been wrong plenty. Thanks for thinking of my headache. That was sweet.
Yours. Laugh at Trump supporters all you like. Frankly, I think he's a f**king moron and I didn't vote for him. You can't say the same about Bill Clinton, can you? You knew he was a liar. You knew he was an adulterer, yet you voted for him anyway. Why are you being a hypocrite against Trump supporters for doing the same thing you did?
I seem to be getting this a lot today; people willy nilly changing the subject and making replies that have nothing to do with comment's I've made.
