No, it's because conservative businessmen keep hiring illegals so they look better to their stock-holders.

I agree with the people who say to make hiring illegals a very expensive risk, with jail time added.
But a wall will just become a symbol of of stupidity covered in graffiti - an inconvenience, not a deterrent.

Sure, that works for those who come into the country looking for legal work.

It doesn't stop the bus hijackers, the heroin rings, the sex traffickers, terrorists, and the people who aren't exactly looking to come here to work at 7-11.

Yes it does - and the many lawsuits that are going to be brought against the wall will show that it will cut off traditional water-holes for the antelope and cut off water access from the Rio Grande area for hundreds of specie. I wish there was a perfect solution - I just don't think the wall is it. I would be more in favor of a virtual wall.

And you think hard core criminals won't find a way around a half built wall. C'mon. Really? I look out my window at a thousand boats that can make that run in 30 minutes. I work with drones that can easily hop that wall with cargo.
Honestly - if I thought the wall would really put a dent in illegal traffic, I would be more convinced - but I just see it re-routing traffic.

The physical wall will only be 800 miles or so, the rest will be a virtual wall so you will in large part get your way. It will depend on the best scenario for each geographical location and if theirs areas with issues such as water for wild life those areas can be virtual wall areas or a combination that leaves access open for wildlife. We have interstates all over America that do the same thing wall opponents claim the wall will do but no outcry over that is to be heard.

Thats right. You re-route it. That makes it easier to control those bottlenecks instead of patrolling thousands of miles on foot.

You make it more expensive and not worth the effort to try. Right now what you're saying is that the status quo is the best we can do. It's not.

The walls in San Diego put a 95% reduction and forced them to take more dangerous routes in. The walls in Israel forced terrorists to spend a lot of money and time trying to get past the wall, and dramatically cut the number of terror attacks.

    Walls work.

As of now we have this. We need a real wall in some of these areas.

"Repairs to the existing fence have been an exercise in futility, as mended segments are often torn down within hours. Thompson had concrete barriers installed across popular smuggling routes, but the smugglers either drove around them, damaging more terrain, or cut the cables and towed them aside"

Right, for they could not care less about working americans. If they did, they would want something done about illegal immigration which has devastated working people. My son in law for instance during the housing bubble. I saw personally what it does to our own people. And these faux liberals could not care less. But then, their party detests working people, so of course they follow the herd. But this ain't the democratic party I once belonged to. No sir. The last president that cared about working americans was Ike, a republican. But Ike was not a conservative either. JFK did perhaps, being of the FDR party. His brother, Ted? Not a chance in hell.

I'll try again. Why would they carry 2 30 ft ladders?

Because people couldn't drive across the border on isolated dirt roads, rob you and drive back to Mexico in five minutes?

Nothing, which is the point. Comparing prison walls and old castle walls, to a 30 ft wall in 2018 is dumb.

I don't need to. those hoards of people that still cross will convince you.

I'd love to see you straddle a forty foot wall while pulling up a 70 lb ladder and hoisting it to the other side all while keeping your balance and not falling to your death. Make us a video. Show us how it's done. LMAO I'm betting you've never been higher than a step stool in your real life.

I could easily point out that Republicans have had multiple opportunities to address the illegal problem. Will they increase fines or jail time for employers of illegals? No. That's part of their base. Too they go after large construction companies or Big Poultry who hire illegals? No. They go after the independent 7-Eleven owners who have one illegal employee - not the major corporations with a thousand.

So here's a mirror for that glass house of yours. Republicans could care less about working Americans. See, we can both play absolutists here - but it doesn't solve a problem to point fingers.

why? they know how to do it. that's why this dog and pony show that was put on doesn't show them even attempting to use a ladder, lol.

Kind of faster than getting over a forty foot wall , hiking a mile to rob a camper then hiking a mile back with whatever you stole and then climbing the wall again with what you stole to make your escape. You can't be as stupid as you are pretending to be.

Hell, the GOP wants illegal labor, and I have said this since day one here. SO, of course I agree with you. I detest both parties. I want my democratic party back!! But I will be dead before that happens, given my age. I had to vote for Perot because I did not trust clinton. And Perot told us exactly what slave labor globalism would yield. The man wasn't a genius, for it was just common sense.
