Don't need the word right in there. Just defend yourself. Its legal in the US....because we made it that way.
We have a right to life, and as such a right to defend that life. That is the most fundamental natural right there is.
Where is the list? I can't seem to find it. How do you know what all your natural rights are if we can't even agree on a list?
Actually I will correct myself. You do have that right. Its is a legal one created by the US government.
And thus, the right to own and use them is protected specifically by the constitution. Just as you do not judge Islam based on the individuals who perpetrated 9-11.
For the purposes of this conversation the ONLY natural right you need to worry about is the right to life and to defend that life. Everything else is irrelevant. Nope. Even the courts have ruled that the rights codified in the Constitution are preexisting and not dependent upon the Constitution for their existence. Epic fail on your part.
So no list exists? Ok. NOW you cite the courts? They have upheld numerous gun control but NOW you cite them? How very conveinent. LOL
So you admit the courts aren't infallible? You admit they get it wrong? How nice. You keep saying we need judicial review of our rights, and the courts are the final arbiter of same, as if the courts ARE somehow the ultimate, infallible final word... but then you stake out a position those courts you find oh so precious have utterly rejected ?? So, when they say what you want to hear then they're right... but then they don't agree with you they're not? "How very convenient."
The final word always rests with the people. But we must accept judicial review short of that. Welcome aboard. Lol
I guess it's OK as long as he enjoys it. I don't scare so easily so he can play Joey McCarthy to his heart's content. You can be sure that many just like him have reported me to the CIA and NSA already. If they thought I was dangerous they would have come by for a visit long before now.
A blind man has the right to pick up his seeing-eye dog and swing it in the air by the tail. He, the same as anyone else, has the right to have a look round the place. Attributed to me, 7 February, 2018
There used to be a place in ALBQ and if I remember correctly it was called "Taco Sals". ¡Exquisito! She served up a portion of stuffed sopapillas that was so hefty you had to fart just to make room in your stomach to finish up the whole meal. She used to stand at the entrance and greet everyone with "Hi doll!"
I would be fine with judicial review, provided they had proper respect for constitutional rights. However, when the courts issue rulings that are in clear defiance of Constitutional intent, they destroy their own credibility.
There will always be someone who disagrees with a ruling. One side wins and one side loses. But there is no way to run a country without it.
We don't seem to be running it very well right now. Maybe it's time for another look at the Declaration of Independence:
Yeah, I said it, and I meant it. In the end, no law will stop a murderer. At the ultimate razor's edge of life and death it is the individual who must defend himself to prevent his own murder, and he has the unalienable right to do so with the most effective tools available for the task.
Uh-uh, you obviously didn’t understand the Holmes quote because your example is has no relation to the meaning. What do you think his analogy represents? While attributed tor him, he’s not the originator, likely is one of your Countrymen... care to guess who?
Responding to the title of the thread, yes there is a right to own guns which is guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment.
