I only voted for cats. I had a dog when I was a little dog but I eventually grew to dislike dogs as pets because they are too dependent, unlike cats that are basically autonomous.
Repost of #57 I only voted for cats. I had a dog when I was little but I eventually grew to dislike dogs as pets because they are too dependent, unlike cats that are basically autonomous.
If I could do it all over, I would have gotten a Chihuahua puppy when my cat was a kitten so that they could grow up together from childhood. Then I could have had both.
Here is my spider story -- this is true. One evening I was out watching my cat while we took a walk together in our small park in the residential complex. The cat spotted a spider walking along, so he jumped on it and started batting it around. The spider tried to get away but could not. The cat was having a great time batting it around over and over. Then the spider got an idea -- ergo spiders "think" -- and rolled up into a ball and played 'possum. Cats have poor eyesight up close, that's why Mother Nature gave them whiskers. Everybody knows this, even spiders know it. The cat lost track of the spider, and started sniffing for it. Cats have tiny noses and are not very good at sniffing like dogs, pigs, and bears are. Eventually the cat wandered off sniffing and sniffing. Then the spider made his move and very slowly crept to a juniper tree and got away. This spider is the only animal/creature that has ever survived an ordeal with my cat. My cat has eaten everything else.
Friends of my got a dog. It's just too funny. The dog is real smart, and that caused the most bizar problems. Smallest problem is that it refuses to eat dog food. Because why eat that, when there is steak or lamb chops. So when I go out with the owner for a dinner.... there is an extra order to be doggy bagged for the dog. The dog would simply refuse to eat for days on end, until a decent meal has been presented in the bowl.
An obedient voter. I selected dog and cat as we have both, 3 Shih Tzu, 5 cats, but also have 2 pig tailed macaques, but monkeys were not found on the list you provided. In order, dog monkey cat.
Originally I was going to nominate my pet rock but I missed that deadline. So now I am forced to go with something else. In essence Labradors and Collies are the best dogs IMO. Cats are smart and guinea pigs are smart hamsters.
Oh my! Dogs have closed the gap with cats! (at least in the approval portion) I need to pay more attention here, It's anyone's game now!
@Woogs, @DennisTate, @notme, @Homer J Thompson, @61falcon I see that you all submitted an approval vote. Did you guys want to submit a ranked vote as well? You don't have to or anything, but if you don't just know that your vote will not count towards 3 out of the 4 tallies at the end. -Meta
Alright, I'll put you down for option B in the ranked portion. The Autonomous Cat... Is kinda creepy :/ -Meta
In order, 1. dog 2. monkey 3. cat. You failed to provide monkey on the list, and although I no longer have her, she died of old age, my Gibbon was much more social with humans. So in reality I would rank them: 1. dog 2. Gibbon 3. monkey 4. cat Why did you list dog, and then list many, but not all individual breeds and only list cat without a similar number of breeds? Seems kind of weighted for dogs to prevail. Hedge hogs are becoming popular where I am, and various species of birds have always been popular here.
Opps, yeah, just saw your earlier post. So I'll put you down for A, Gibbon, Monkey, B in the ranked vote. (why does that sound like some sort of slur? :/) To answer your question, the options past option C were all taken from member nominations. -Meta
dogs, because they're social/family bond animals like us... dogs I prefer because of past experience with them...border collies(very very smart, maybe too smart), labs, golden retrievers, poodles...and mutts...
Just put me down for A: dogs B: cats I really love all animals, but have only dogs (Yorkies) and cats (various). Works for us, and they don't seem to mind, either.
