The people who claim to be at the tip of the spear in the fight to protect and help the middle class are just murdering the middle class.

A while back I was interviewed for a job in Burlingame which is just below San Fran. One of the first questions the panel asked me was how did I feel about possibly moving to one of the most expensive zip codes in the world? I then asked them where they lived and they all said they commuted 2 hours each way with the commute being longer if the bridges are messed up. They were able to tell I immediately lost interest in the job.

The bottom line is San Fran is lib central and they claim to be for the little guys, so how is it they're pricing them out of the market where only the 1% can survive?

San Francisco is not unique, real estate and costs are too high in most of our coastal cities like Boston,New York,Miami,San Diego,Seattle.

True, but according to CNN the Bay area tops the list. These numbers are from 2016.

Below is the full list of the top ten most expensive cities, as well as the median cost of a one bed rental.

    1. San Francisco, CA $3,590
    2. New York, NY $3,340
    3. Boston, MA $2,310
    4. Oakland, CA $2,280
    5. San Jose, CA $2,270
    6. Washington, DC $2,200
    7. Los Angeles, CA $1,970
    8. Miami, FL $1,900
    9. Chicago, IL $1,790
    10. Seattle, WA $1,750

Also from 2016 is this chart. I was surprised to see Sacramento towards the bottom of the list.

The fact that some of the most rich and powerful people and companies happen to live there seems to have flown right passed this thread eh? Might drive up values a bit don't you think?

Liberals definitely believe THE highest right of all is to PROTECT PROPERTY VALUES. So they REFUSE to allow new construction to increase and increase and increase the shortage of housing, driving property values thru the ceiling - and as a way to keep poor people - particularly minorities - out of their cities and neighborhoods.

Ubber white and Democrat Seattle and San Francisco do this, as do many other ultra white liberal areas.

There are a couple of exceptions, but tax rate is a huge factor. It seems to be the biggest common denominator.

I have an uncle who commuted to San Francisco his whole career from Antioch. He loves it there, but he has no kids and is almost 80. His taxes are grandfathered at a 40 year old rate. He travels the world and goes skiing when he can. He’s a retired bank vp.

I have an aunt from San Francisco on the other side of the family. She married my uncle who was in the navy at the time. She’s a lib, but we love each other dearly. Her mother moved from SF a few years before she died at 93. She sold her 2 houses and moved to Texas as a millionaire. She enjoyed living here because she got to know her grandkids in Texas and could afford to not be a burden.

With the highest poverty level in the USA - meaning the most Democrat state also has the greatest income discrepancies. The hypocrisy is completely predictable.

neoliberal policies are responsible for the state of the housing market. a leftist solution would entail stripping the property from landlords and foreign investors who own property that has gone unoccupied for too long and selling it at nominal prices.

add in the fact that leftist elites are big fans of 'sustainable development' environmental policies that either prohibit or severely limit new construction, or make it so expensive and time-consuming to gain approval to develop and build out a piece of property, many don't bother.

oh, and the virtually unrestricted immigration. I mean, when you broadcast to the entire ****ing world that if you can make it to a California Sanctuary City™ you'll be safe, what do the idiots think is going to happen?

I've only been to California twice ... Palo Alto and Huntington Beach. Neither place was as nice the suburbs of NYC or Dallas.

I'd rather have my right arm amputated than move to California.

The irony is that Silicon Valley exists precisely because none of them are taxed. So much for liberals being against low taxes or no taxes for businesses. They are trying to change that and the second they do those tech businesses will move to Austin even faster than they already are.

Friends and relatives have been to the Bay Area and brought back pictures and videos had nothing positive to say about San Fran.and the sad thing is that the stuff that sticks in peoples heads isn't anything cultural its all about how gross and disgusting San Francisco is. The entire city smells like urine and semen and if I had a dime for every pic someone showed me of human poop on a sidewalk or lawn (even some pics of people actually taking a dump on the sidewalk) I could retire and buy Bill Gates.

What does that have to do with the laws of supply and demand?

Home owners vote and they like rising property values. And the state likes property taxes.

Because they have free markets?

Supply and demand. You are blaming them because so many people want to live there.

Nothing. The laws of supply and demand in a free country seem to overpower the liberal desires of income equality, wealth redistribution and darn near socialism. But it's more than just high rents, it's also traffic, the homeless and other quality of like issues. Did you see how many people would up and leave if they could? That's not a good mark for San Fran.

You KNOW what I am going to type. Sadly it is the absolute truth. I wish it wasn't. I really do. But here goes: It is NEVER wrong when leftists do it; which is WHY they keep doing IT to this nation.
