I can see you are a fan of recognizing pragmatism. But disappointing to see you don't recognize that Republicans are about pragmatism. We are about conserving what works. Stand up and feel the war. Can we agree that children wading through **** and heroin needles is a fine place to start?
I can't afford to even look at where you grew up. Im in the top 10 percent. And in the top 5 this year, here.
Neither could I today. In the Manhattan Beach "Tree Section" you don't buy a home you buy the land, bull doze down the original home and build a new and bigger home. They do the same thing in Newport Beach. The thing is, all those old homes were well built using brace framing not box framing that is used today. Any home built before WW ll is usually a well built home that used brace framing. Today most framing carpenters wouldn't know how to frame a house using brace framing. Ever wonder why all of those old Victorian homes that are 120 years old or Craftsman homes you see around California are still standing after going through so many major earthquakes ? Brace framing. I saw on the local news tonight, home prices are still going up and sales are down because most can't afford these over priced homes in California.
Probably because all the ones in California are undocumented. Construction quality is nothing like it used to be in the 40s. In all fairness, there were a lot of cheap homes mass produced in the late 40s but you could still get quality if you weren't buying a track home in the suburbs from a developer. Availability of high quality lumber to work with has also become depleted, another contributory reason why houses are so flimsy these days. Beginning in the late 80s pretty much most construction workers building houses in the state were Mexicans. Of course it depressed wages in the industry and sent a lot of (skilled) blue collar workers packing off to other parts of the country.
My grandparents moved into a sears home built in the 1880's. It was empty for 50 years before. Its still standing.
Exactly... The Northridge earthquake in 1994 was a 6.7 magnitude. Older homes and commercial building, little damage. Newer homes and building failed, or had severe damage. I must have inspected around two hundred buildings after the quake in the San Fernando Valley. We would go into a building if still standing usually 12 engineers at a time. It's a no brainer, a building not secured to the foundation is going to be knocked of its foundation and maybe collapse. But we found that most of the damage was from faulty nailing. The framing carpenters were from south of the border and have no clue was a nailing schedule was. Knocked off the foundation Faulty nailing, likely framed by illegal aliens. This old Craftsman home slid off its foundation But after WW ll most homes built in California are tract homes, box framing and drywall. What's the story behind this photo ? It's track homes, most survived but it looks like a group of homes failed. When they build track homes there are usually like a few or a half a dozen different framing contractors involved. I bet the contractor who was incharge of those homes that failed wasn't involved building the homes that survived. Just my guess.
Yes, I know a lawyer who specializes in faulty construction lawsuits. Apparently there's a lot of work in that field in California. The track home developers used the most crappy construction practices and then all the problems started showing themselves 10 or 15 years later. We're talking what are supposed to be skilled carpenters who got paid $13 an hour.
Good old Sears and Roebuck mail order catalog. When I was around 8 or so I got my first Daisy Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. When I was 12 my first real rifle, a Remington Mod 510 Targetmaster single shot .22 rifle. When I was 14 I wanted a ream man's rifle for Christman. My father ordered a 8 mm Kar-98 Mauser rifle from the Sears mail order catalog. A couple of weeks later the mailman delivered the rifle to the door. He paid $28 for that rifle and I still have it today. I bet that pisses you off, a Schmidt and Ruben for $13.95. You were able to get anything from a Sears mail order catalog back when America was still great. Even a freaking home. Sears Homes 1908-1914
Taking a closer look at the track homes in the photo, it looks like they were destroyed by fire. Broken gas lines I suppose.
How does having no residency laws mean that people are required to have a registered residence? If people are required to have a registered residence, doesn't this mean that there is a law which "requires" them to have a registered residence?
That's a myth, but it was close, because of the republican congress getting him to sign THEIR budget that cut spending.
Do you know when they surplus is supposed to be measured? From fiscal year to fiscal year (Oct 1st- Sep 30th), no time during Clinton was there ever a surplus.
Same with anyone no matter their political affiliation, I have no idea why you only try to slur democrats living in San Fran. Your obsession shows mental illness..
They support the idiots that make heroin needles and feces the reality in a major US city, in a major US state, in the USA, in 2018.
