So the taking the 5th starts but it's not Trump associates but Clinton/DNC associates refusing to testify about the "dossier" and who was involved and who knew what and when.

So will our leftist friends here express their outrage over this? Call for transparency? Do you REALLY want to get to the bottom of the dossier and FISA warrant?

This only makes it appear more and more there was a concerted plot by high government officials, DNC officials, Clinton campaign officials to set up first candidate Trump and then President Trump over bogus charges and then use the power of our intelligence and law enforcement to overturn an election.

"Glenn Simpson, the co-founder of Fusion GPS, the firm behind the infamous dossier. (AP)

The co-founder of Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm that produced the now-infamous Trump-Russia dossier, will invoke his First and Fifth Amendment privileges in order to avoid testifying before the House Judiciary Committee next week, his lawyer said Thursday.....

    ...
GOP lawmakers have focused on the relationship between Simpson and Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, who was also in contact with former British spy Christopher Steele. Fusion GPS commissioned Steele to compile his research on Trump’s alleged personal and financial ties to Russia into a dossier. The dossier became part of the evidence used to obtain a secret surveillance warrant to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and was published by BuzzFeed News in January 2017.

In previous testimony, Simpson told lawmakers on the Senate Intelligence Committee that he did not have contact with Ohr until after the 2016 election. However, work emails written by Ohr show the two were in touch that August, if not earlier. Ohr’s notes also indicate that in December 2016, there was a meeting in Washington, D.C.’s Chinatown between Fusion GPS’ Simpson and Ohr, with Ohr writing, “Glen(n) gave me a memory stick.”"

It doesn't mean he's guilty. It just means that he doesn't want to repeat the phrase, "I can't remember" over and over again.

In the letter, addressed to Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, Simpson's lawyers question the motives of the committee's investigation, asserting that the "inquiry is not designed to discover the truth."

"The obvious -- and at times explicitly stated -- goal of this Committee is to discredit and otherwise damage witnesses to Russia's interference in the 2016 election, all as part of an effort to protect a President who has sought to placate and curry favor with a hostile foreign power and who demands that the Justice Department stop investigating him," the letter continues.

"The Committee has refused to define the scope of the deposition, but its members have already falsely accused Mr. Simpson of 'lying' -- ample basis for us to be concerned that this Committee is only seeking to falsely incriminate Mr. Simpson," the letter said. "Thus, the service of a subpoena on Mr. Simpson for a closed-door deposition by politicians who have already exhibited abundant bad faith leaves him with no other decision than to stand on his constitutional rights under the First and Fifth Amendments not to testify."

Simpson has testified before the House and Senate Intelligence committees and Senate Judiciary Committee.

    That's a thought.

I think when new evidence is unearthed, someone needs to explain themselves under oath.

Reminds me of a certain committee action that took place not long ago.....

    Uhm…..nope!

Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson in 'real legal jeopardy', GOP investigator says....

Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson is pleading the fifth because he's in "real legal jeopardy," said a member of the House Judiciary Committee on Sunday.

Last week, Simpson's lawyer announced that his client intends to “invoke his constitutional rights not to testify" for a closed-door deposition on Oct. 16.

Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, said he is not surprised Simpson would take such a course of action, considering how his past testimony clashes with what a Justice Department official under scrutiny told the committee.

The reason for that ... is that Glenn Simpson had previously testified under oath to the House Intelligence Committee that he never met with Bruce Ohr or discussed with Bruce Ohr the Steele dossier prior to the October [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] application in 2016 or the 2016 presidential election," Ratcliffe said on Fox News. "That is in direct contradiction to what Bruce Ohr told me under oath last month. I'm not surprised he is taking the Fifth. He probably should. He's in real legal jeopardy. Very clearly someone is not telling the truth. Nellie Ohr, Bruce's Ohr wife, certainly can shed some light."

Ohr also attracted scrutiny because his wife, Nellie, was a contractor for Fusion GPS. She is expected to speak with lawmakers next week.....snip~

Sounds more like he's referring to Mueller's witch hunt than anything else.

True.... in this case, I expect Simpson to get under oath and simply say "I like beer" and "I'm only here because of revenge on behalf of the Clintons".... Investigation over!

No reason for the Repubs not to play hardball, now.

Closing in on Clinton-Justice Russia collusion conspiracy

Congressional Republicans are collecting evidence to show an extensive, election year, anti-Trump conspiracy between Hillary Clinton operatives such as Fusion GPS and Barack Obama appointees at the Justice Department and the FBI.

The investigation took a new turn last week. Fusion co-founder Glenn Simpson decided to invoke the Fifth Amendment rather than testify under subpoena before a special House Republican task force.

The Republicans see Mr. Simpson as the key middleman between Justice and the Clinton campaign. He orchestrated the Democrat-financed dossier on which the FBI built its early investigation of candidate Donald Trump. Republicans believe the unproven dossier, with its charge of extensive Trump-Russia collusion, is a sham perpetrated by Democrats and the press.

Glenn Simpson was an absolutely essential figure in launching the entire Russia collusion hoax,” a Republican congressional staffer told The Washington Times.

    Mr. Simpson
decided to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights during the same week that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein balked at testifying. Republicans want information about his May 2017 meeting with then-FBI
Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. He said in a memo that Mr. Rosenstein talked of secretly recording the president, The New York Times reported.

“You know we’re getting close when first Rosenstein is a no-show, and now Glenn Simpson is taking the 5th,” tweeted Rep. Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican......snip~

So you DON'T want to know the truth about the dossier and how it came about and who was involved in this plot to set up candidate and then President Trump?

You don't have to care about the dossier but it was misrepresented to the FISA court by James Comey in order to place the Trump administration under surveillance. It illegally justified spying on the president. That's not an insignificant thing.

It was the basis of the FISA warrant. It was a plot between a political campaign and high level government officials to try and derail an opposition candidate and then an elected President.

And you don't care. Good don't care about the Russian collusion and obstruction of justice things anymore too.

Yes it was an not a matter of changing a mind its a matter of simply being OK with such actions by a political campaign and high level government officials to change the outcome of an election.

You have now stated you don't give a crap. I guess you didn't give a crap about Watergate either and how Nixon attempted to use the FBI and CIA or is your crap selective?
