You got a secondary source that she is confirmed to have lost it? All I can see is that it is only in doubt.

A lot of sites are reporting she either has lost it, or speculating she lost it. I don’t think she was on her show today. We’ll find out soon enough.

“Fired for essentially nothing” might be more opinion than fact.

Also, Free Speech is not a virtue. Just because you are allowed to say something doesn’t mean you should say it. It’s called manners...decency...etc. It’s not illegal though, but Megyn did this on air as a representativr of NBC. And just like in your job, there’s things you say that will get you packed up quicker than you can say, “Free Speech”

Meghan is not a naive child. She's in her late 40's. She should know the history of blackface. She also went on a bizarre rant about Santa's race, during which she "reassured" kids that Santa is white and so is Jesus, she added. I wish Meghan well, but bring back Tamron Hall. She's professional, intelligent, beautiful and doesn't put her foot in her mouth.

I think it was dumb to say, but so is firing her over it.... she was fired for not seeing how its different if a white person puts on black face then a black person putting on white face

it's a lot like Obama saying the N-Word and Trump saying the N-Word - either both can do it or neither imo

I think neither should do it, it's the only way to not judge based on race

we also have to be consistent, I support Obama, but do not support him using that word - I do not support Trump and would not support him using that word - but now that Obama used it, it would give Trump a free pass to use it too

what if a newscaster said Jesus was black or Santa was black, would you feel the same - does the race of the newscaster mater?

I agree, stupid things to say, but they are just that, stupid, I would not call them a firing offense though

while I think what she did was wrong, I think we needed to not over-react as well

but with more and more famous black stars, more and more white children will want to dress as them for Halloween, should we teach them it's wrong to want to be a black super hero or movie star? something to think about.... how about if people were telling black children it's wrong to dress like white super heroes or movie stars? we have to be careful...... the goal is to end racism, not extend it to a new generation

anyone remember the movie "Soul Man"?

I know one person probably happy as can be over her firing... Trump

obviously not, look at Trump, most of what he says is not even approved of by his own party, and he has the highest job in the land

only thing Trump wants to stop is the Press reporting the Truth about him - only Alternative facts allowed it seems with this administration

She's walking away with $69 million in severance pay (which I'm sure NBC is going to challenge). She wouldn't have received that if she didn't have a labor agreement in the first place.

Did she get fired? Her ratings probably don't justify her inordinate salary or generate enough advertising revenue. The who doesn't want to look like Diana Ross and why can't a white person make their skin darker to do this said with doe eyes could be interpreted as endearing or as outrageous. The person who she was describing looked like a caricature of Diana Ross but Megyn's insistence that Santa (and Jesus) are white were worse remarks. Santa is an imaginary elf and any adult who gets on a soapbox insisting that he is a particular race is behaving ridiculously. It's legitimate to examine Jesus' lineage, although for Christians the fact that he is the Savior of all nations, should be far more important. If she got fired, it must be due to the cumulative effect of her obtuse comments and low ratings. Tell kids to be Steve Urkel or Doc McStuffins for Halloween, just not in painted black(or brown) face. Let clothing and other characteristics, like suspenders and a nasal "Did I do that?" or a stethoscope and a stuffed toy, portray the character (or person).

I really wish you would attend the National Museum of African-American History and Culture in Washington, DC., because as I've said before, you seem like a nice person who doesn't understand why race and context matter. We should always consider context when judging behavior; otherwise you reject critical knowledge that aids discernment. Look up the Tripadvisor or Google reviews on this museum. It's a National treasure, like the Holocaust Museum, the National Air and Space Museum, etc. but it's splendidly curated, modern and chronicles history so poignantly that I believe you would find the experience to be enlightening and change some of your opinions.

If she or anyone needs to be told, in 2018, blackface is offensive, then they’re not as bright as they think.

Also, she said when she was a kid it was okay. You’re not 12 years old anymore, lady.

And sounds like it’s going to cost NBC some money.

    Apparently it’s still ok.

This is not liberal vs conservative issue. This is simple. Is what she said racist? I do not believe it is. I would be willing to listen especially from Afro-Americans here on this forum if someone would state an opinion and explain why it is racist.

You're one of my favorite posters. I don't believe that her comment was racist - but it was obtuse and a bad idea. Black kids don't put on white face when they dress as Cinderella or Superman. No need to paint on a different skin color, to portray someone of another race. This can easily look buffoonish, even if you're not nostalgic about minstrel shows.

Nah, there was probably an ethics clause and here they have her on camera saying things that in the leftist world is utterly anti-PC; and thus that's their financial out.

How much you want to bet that her leftist staffers put her up to that line of commentary, having been told to do so by their real bosses in order to set her up for the P.C. crowd? They very obviously wanted her to go since her political value long ago expired once Trump became president and because she just doesn't play all that well for their leftist viewers who've come to expect strictly a leftist perspective and interpretation in regards to everything.

What is racist about it. They were talking about a woman whose favorite singer is Dinah Ross and how she dressed up like her for a Halloween party from what I understand. It was her way of getting to play the roll for the evening.

I assumed it was still ok since every black rapper, entertainer, and inner city hood rat use the word in every sentence they speak...
