Why are you ignoring China? They have been far more lethal than Russia.

Not ignoring China, nor Saudi Arabia or Iran for that matter.
The examples from the OP are of Russian bad behavior specifically,
but I intentionally asked the main thread question in a more general sense,
to include any foreign government which might attempt to sow division discord and violence.
Almost all the suggested ideas are along the same line. (and of course I'm open to additional suggestions)

    Here's an idea.

How about you actually PROVE that the Russian government did all the things you're accusing it of doing before offering up solutions to a problem that might not even exist.

And in case you were wondering, allegations made by the US government do not count as proof of anything, especially when the allegations are being made by US officials with a proven history of LYING their asses off.

I'm surprised by that because I had you down as being more enlightened, but the above statement makes you closed-minded, and that isn't a healthy attitude. In fact it's arrogant and worse, nationalistic.

Why should I care what your opinion is - as a foreigner - about topics which deal with American subjects?

And I particularly refuse to argue or bargan with people in foreign countries who want to reshape Ametican in their image instead of mine

How should we respond to efforts by domestic enemies to attack constitutional governance?

Like I was telling Sharpie, while the specific examples used in the OP are of Russian bad behavior, the purpose of this thread is more broad than just that; it asks how it is we should respond to foreign attempts at sowing discord and violence in general, regardless of who it is. So do you have any thoughts on that? What solution would you suggest for dealing with any foreign entities that try to cause violent conflict in our country? Again, your idea does not need to be specific to Russia.

Though... having said that, I do think it should be noted (again) that there is ample evidence of the Russian government's subversion. I provided several supporting links within the OP. There are bank records, digital information, and more implicating individual Russian agents. Dozens have already been indicted, a few have been arrested and jailed. If you say that you don't trust information that comes from the U.S. government, then please specify exactly what kinds of sources you would deem acceptable instead... Would private entities like Facebook, Google, and Twitter be acceptable sources? Or how about other governments?? Maybe the French or Montenegrin governments perhaps?? As the OP points out, the U.S. is not the only country that Russian agents target with this kind of nonsense; in the past they've been caught red-handed in several other countries as well.

Sometimes an alternative opinion can have a positive effect to your advantage. I love America and Americans (although I don't like the culture any more than I like my own), it's your administration that I criticise, especially when it comes to foreign policy; surely even you will admit they've ****ed up a few times? Don't be so paranoid and insular because some of us 'foreigners' wish the US well.

If you think the focus for this issue should be more broad than just what foreign governments are doing to divide and sow violence, then you probably want the other thread, How Can We Prevent Societal Rifts From Expanding into Violence. Make sure to check out the list of suggestions there, I'm sure there are several you would agree with. Also, don't forget to vote for which ones you like best, Ranked Vote: How Can We Prevent Societal Rifts From Expanding into Violence? And also, don't forget to vote again, for the midterms (assuming you haven't already).

Personally, I thought the “foreign” political ads on Facebook before the ‘16 election were great. They were entertaining.

Sounds like the war is heating up. Just wait until after the mid-terms.

Well, Maxine Waters, Eric Holder, and Hillary Clinton already declared war. They wanted it, so I guess they'll get it.

Hey, the right has told the left to stop. They don't listen to well.

LOL! Your accusation of "closed minded" while you hurl "closed minded" is hysterical!

There's nothing wrong with Nationalistic. Especially when juxtaposed with the "no borders, no language, no culture" Globalists. How that path doesn't lead to totalitarianism is beyond me.

Neither end of the political extremes listens well.
And part of the problem is that folks on either side only see the issues with folks on the other side,
while completely failing to even consider that the very same issues also exist on their own.
The way to fix this in my opinion, is not to look at things through such a political lens.

Without pointing fingers or broad-brushing entire groups, consider instead,
the types of behaviors themselves, which are bad, which are good,
and try to come to agreements with your fellow citizens on
joint behavioral changes that we might all find,
    ...mutually beneficial....

    BTW, you should come vote:

Ranked Vote: How Can We Prevent Societal Rifts From Expanding into Violence

I'm not quite sure how to respond to that. I don't know if it's an accolade or an insult! :eyepopping:

Also, aren't you supposed to be like,
really really anti foreign influence? I figured you be the type who wouldn't want it anywhere...
