I thought that Democrats were all about separation of church and state. Now they want to allow religious headdresses in Congress?

I find it remarkable that there has never been a Sikh in Congress.

Separation between church and state was always in the context of forcing one religion on another person. This is not that type of scenario. For example, I do not see anyone asking everyone to participate in holding a prayer session before they begin their work in the House or Senate, which would be not keeping church separated from state; it is a matter of personal religious freedom--specifically, can this person be allowed to follow their religious beliefs while serving this country.

Then you are making no sense (as usual) by reposting that simple question and then replying, "What?".

Interesting, they already sound better than the church my mom took me to.
Personally I think if it's truly religious garments it should be allowed. I would think cons would agree. Can jews wear those yamakas? I would think thats cool too.

I think you’re confused, she’s not going to require everyone else to wear it also.

I don't see a problem here as long as it doesn't impede the ability of security to identify her while she is in the building. Mountain outta molehill.

And "all men are created equal." Doesn't say anything about women being equal.

Don't be so quick to pass an absolute judgment.

Define religion and how people chose to express it.

What if someone declares Baseball as their religion, and specifically the denomination of say the NY Yankees?

Is the government going to declare the NY Yankees are not a religion? Based on what?

Is it the governments role to declare which religions are legitimate, and those which are not?

Slippery slope, and can of worms comes to mind....

    Interesting.

    Unanticipated problem.

But the SC must rule in her favor if it ever gets to that.

    IOW, she's right.
