Same exact complaint could be lodged by the Germans and the French and the Italians as to mispronouncing their native tongue. Not too much out of those from South Norway, from what I hear.
What on Earth are you talking about? This is not about mispronouncing words, but rather is it about mixing languages for no real reason whatsoever.
Spanish. Phonetically, K is the nearest sound in which 'gutteral' can be described. This in turn begs the question of how someone who is born in the middle eastern region of the world can have an Iberian name?
The Brit Met Office have started saying 'wet snow' for sleet, 'standing water' for pooling of rain, and I read this one this morning, 'frost on the grass' for what used to be 'a ground frost'. WTF does grass have to do with it!! I think they're doing it to wind me up. It's almost as irritating as NASA saying 'solid wodder' for ice.** ** I now confidently predict that some anorak from Science forum will explain the difference to me.
Nah - that guttural sound isn't made by making the K sound, at least, that's not how I was taught. It's more like saying an H while gargling.
There's more than one way to skin a cat? Describing isn't easy though, other than by a vocalised example.
People that drive at 30mph in a 60mph zone, this is something that annoys me almost every day! People that don't leave enough space when passing cyclists.
We have problems with truckers speeding who ride in the right lane. But we do try to help truckers when traveling and get over so they don't have to lose speed, but some are rude. In Jacksonville Fl. a biker is killed almost every week according to news. Another one today. https://www.news4jax.com/traffic/motorcyclist-injured-in-hit-and-run-crash-jfrd-says
A gutteral-sounding word is difficult to describe to an English speaker because we have no words which call for it. I speak Spanish and there are quite a few words which have unusual pronunciation because of the phonetic differences in our alphabets.
I choose "not leaving enough space" vs having a head on collision with oncoming traffic. Heavy traffic and bikes just dont mix.
Over-explaining....People who take too long or can't get to the point annoy me... and makes me annoying because I'll interrupt before I can help myself .... I try very hard not to. There are lots of things that I find annoying and I do lots of annoying things but I don't feel like sharing.... I'm annoying that way.
People(!) who say 'both' when there's no need to. Or worse, when they say it now and again instead of all the time. I mean, it's either necessary or it's not?
