It is you who needs to think beyond Trump's rhetoric and lying commentary that he constantly lays on his base. My working life
has been spent in the Automobile business and I understand it.

Mac-7 clearly just parrots Trump's words. He did not even know how many US manufactured cars are imported from and to China per year

Libs have no idea who trump voters are

Most of us have been for American manufacturing long before trump came along

Its libs like the GM apologists on this thread you only woke up to the trade issue after trump got elected

That is very strange. How can anyone hate the new car smell, which smells better than a rose garden?

What makes you think GM can't survive? They still make some money. They will just layoff a few thousand people with good jobs and move some more production to Mexico.

It's not what they are saying. It's what they are doing.

Toyota doesn't have the worker problems or the payroll that GM is saddled with. Also Robotics

    Yeah, It's complicated.

GM still has $35 billion of losses on its books from the past. The automaker was able to defer taxes caused by net operating losses that occurred over three years prior to the bankruptcy.

If corporate tax reform is adopted, GM would have to take a one-time accounting charge, Stevens said, but its overall tax rate would not be impacted.

That's an extra sweetener for the New GM, which is a vastly more efficient, innovative and profitable company than the shadow of Old GM.

GM posted net income of $2.6 billion, up 33% from the same period a year ago. The company said North American sales of trucks and SUVs and a strong performance in China fueled the strong quarter.

Trump looses. The tariffs that Trump put on metal, makes cheap foreign metal expensive,.. just as expensive as local. Cars are made from metal. American cars are made from that expensive American metal, making them cars expensive. Chinese cars are made from cheap Chinese metal.... making their cars cheap. Hence China doesn't need to put on extra tariffs on American cars, since Trump made them more expensive. That's why GM is in trouble.

    Good job!

That's how odd Chinese new car buyers are. Another way that they are very strange is how they use the new car. In many cases, especially those whose income is in the low six figure range (in US dollars), they don't drive their new car - they are chauffeured in it. That's why Ford designed this elaborate reas seat package for the Lincoln Continental
I am on the left, and I know for a fact that they're still building cars and trucks here, and twenty years from now, they'll still be building cars and trucks here. You should stop speaking on subjects that you know nothing about. Your opinion is not fact.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Liberals, especial unions, have been against NAFTA from the beginning and against buying anything from China since the beginning. Republicans/Conservatives have been "free trade".

So your excuses are high tariffs for steel and GM workers being paid too much

And supposedly that prevents GM from building cars in America

Yet it does not keep GM from building trucks and vans

Are the truck workers paid less than the car workers?

And does GM somehow use cheaper steel in its trucks than cars?

    of course not

    Libs are just blowing smoke

God only knows what dem voters want other than bigger government handouts

If foreign metal is just as expensive as domestic metal now why not buy local and help America?

But if you are GM and you have defected to china, and your masters in peking are telling you what to do maybe not

I make no excuses and give the facts only. You think that they are leaving because they don't like us? You have no clue about the automobile business in America and are naive. Do some reading and you can find the Automobile News magazine in the library. The Wall Street Journal is also very informative. What do you do for work?

The bs you have been offering so far does not add up to GM remaining in America except as an import from china

They are closing production in the US and moving car production to china which makes them defectors
