If the shutdown lasts two more weeks, the cost to the economy will exceed price of Trump's wall

This argument is akin to telling the family that they should have gone ahead and paid the kidnappers if they really wanted to see their family members.

But I know why you want to blame the Democrats for the shutdown.

    You are smarter than trump.

As you well know, there were never enough votes in the Senate to get it passed. I would much rather President Trump declare the border a national emergency and give himself power that would have unhinged lefties sputtering and stammering about for months on end.

Blame games are for children. I don't really care who "started the shutdown". If the Democrats could get over their petty "I hate Trump" tantrum and put America and Americans first, we'd have funding for border security AND the government could reopen.

The Democrats have absolutely no way to try to justify blocking "the wall" if the shutdown is going to cost more than the amount Trump was asking for in the first place. Surely you can see that, partisan blinders and all. This just highlights the pettiness of Pelosi and Schumer. Talk about cutting off their noses to spite their faces.

How do you know?? They did 3 weeks ago... I bet it would be close to a 50/50 vote today, but Mitchy and Donnie are afraid to find out...

democrats are supposed to come to the table and offer some sort of compromise that's the way it supposed to work the way that it should work
so tell me what is the compromised offer democrats have made?
democrats could probably get their beloved DACA passed maybe even more but they are willing to cut off their nose to spite their face to keep from giving an inch to Trump

Can you explain to me why this wall funding was not passed by the GOP congress in the first two years Trump was in office and they controlled everything? What changed? Is there really a NS crisis or is it a mere distraction and obstructionism?

It's a complete distraction... Presidents normally don't have any problems issuing a National Emergency if there is one....

Every minute Clowny waits to do this just proves that there is no crisis (except of leadership)...

But I'm fine with him doing it if it gets the govt open again... He can lose (again) in the courts...

Now the DP is arguing that they care about spending! Incredible.
Everyone knows Democrats never have a problem with spending.

Those awful Republicans must have somehow figured out that Pelosi/Schumer and the DP would be blamed for the shutdown.

"Cher is blasting President Trump for his demand for border wall funding but is urging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to “let him have his f---ing money” in order to end the partial government shutdown. “Real people are suffering,” the “Believe” singer — a vocal critic of Trump who's referred to the president before as a “f---ing traitor" — said in a Wednesday tweet to her more than 3.6 million followers."

But it is up to the DP House. The House alone holds the "power of the purse".

...never had enough votes? It passed 97-0. In the senate.

And please do encourage him to declare a national emergency. The wall would be held up in the courts for a year or more and then, either trump expanded executive authority and I will look forward to a future democratic president declaring climate change, gun violence and access to healthcare (ya know, actual emergencies) in order to pass executive action.

Or he loses in the court and just wasted even more US taxpayer dollars for jack ****.

Pelosi and Schumer are ACTIVELY passing funding bills that would re-open the agencies completely unrelated to the government.

And the irony of starting your post by saying that you dont play the blame game and ending your post by saying that Schumer and Pelosi have no justification for continuing the shutdown is an irony not lost on anyone.

Give them credit, they do pretend to have a problem with spending when the DP is in charge. The RP prefers to go for the "E".

VOTE REPUBLICAN! THE PARTY THAT TRIES REALLY REALLY HARD TO LIMIT GOVERNMENT SPENDING!

    That has actually worked. ;-)

Until we impeach the *********ker and throw him out of office. Then we can try him and put him into prison where he belongs.

The United States is a serious country, not Grand Fenwick or Lower Elbonia, we aren't run on whether we make people's heads explode. We do that enough when we're not being run by an enraged simpleton. We don't need to try at it.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/co...funding-bill-5-billion-trump-s-border-n950666

"WASHINGTON -- With Washington a little more than 24 hours away from a partial government shutdown, the House of Representatives on Thursday passed a spending bill that includes an additional $5 billion for President Donald Trump's long-promised border wall. The vote was 217-185.

The $5 billion is in line with what the President has requested of Congress, but passage of the measure doesn't appear to have moved Washington any closer to averting a shutdown at the end of the week.

That's because the bill next heads to the Senate, where it is expected to be dead on arrival due to opposition over the border wall money."
