I think the sickness of my country is rather old. There is the loss of identity but I think too that a country to be healthy should have a strong spirituality to power it, I'm not speaking of religion in a mandatory way, but it can be philosophy too. Catholicism even if it were extremly flawed played a spiritual role, spiritual role which is not filled anymore. French people tend to be pessimistic, have few hope for the future and depreciate often their country, even nationalistic people. From my point of view, a lot of our problems are the consequence of spiritual problems. I'm deeply convinced of the deep role of spirituality in the good health of a nation. Because the sickness is deep, I except many troubles for my country in the near future, however I have hope. But clearly, if we want our own country to be better, we will have to change individually our way of thinking. Philosophical revolutions are the prelude to the most important change. @MAGA I globally try to not give attention to all the "surrender" joke, but I think those jokes are insulting to my ancestors which fought horrible war. Maybe we lost a couple of times, it happen, especially when you're fighting formidable adversaries like the german, but there is no surrendering traditions in France until the fifties even if there is a lack of respect to the nation, the ancestors prosperign since a few decades.
On one side, we had a woman which asked for popular initiative referendum, so in a nutshell giving pure power to the people, in another hand we have a man repressing violently protests, elected by a minority of french people (with all the people which voted null or didn't went to vote) with all major medias owned by friend of him. But the medias told that it's the first one which was dangerous for democracy. So it must be true. I'm saying that, but I already gave my opinion about that useless burden of Marine Le Pen.
*shrug* Had France elected Le Pen, they wouldn't be getting shot in the face and beaten by police right now.
Probably. Macron is lucky to not be an arabic leader, a far right president like in Poland, Hungary or Russian, or an african president. Otherwise I suppose that leftist medias would have been outraged. It's maybe leftism racism.
My German friends tell me that Macron, along with everybody else who has high positions in the French government have reputations for being criminally corrupt that are almost beyond belief! These corrupt French bureaucrats answer to no one but the European Central Bank -- just like the German big-wigs do! No wonder the Brits are so desperate to wipe this "EU"-sh*t off their shoes and move on.... Every Brit I know is SO grateful that they never ditched their British money for the euro. If they had ever made that mistake, they'd really be in a hell of a mess.
@VotreAltesse I remember waiting for a "Not A Gaulist" to get elected in France. Then the Socialist Mitterrand the socialist was elected and he was the same as same could be. Like the two party system. Do you agree? The French are locked into an of the rich, by the rich, for the rich plutocracy as is <Twilight Zone music> Oui? @VotreAltesse Moi I spent all my French, please reply in English. FREE Meng Wanzhou!
@Moi621 I don't have any hope from the political system. I wouldn't surprized if the bank-politician system collapsed in the incoming decades. I still vote, but I don't have any hope of a political change. I agree with the fact there is a plutocracy however. Democracy is controled by whoever controle the medias, and every medias in french are owned by billionaires.
VotreAltesse is correct on many points. Le Pen is "archi nul", totally unable to hold her own in debate with an intelligent person. Macron is intelligent, even if he is wrong and lacking in ideas. The E.U. is full of problems, but is better than the alternative, especially now. Pulling out would not make things better. Seeing so many say so much about a country they obviously know so poorly is wryly amusing. France is America's oldest ally, yet Americans seem to get their rocks off abusing their friend verbally. Just remember, no France, no U.S.
Which begs the question - which of these would you rather have as a leader of your country, someone who isn't very articulate but has all the right answers, or someone who is intelligent has only has wrong ones? Decisions. decisions??
France is going to Frexit Macron's head from his torso, I don't know about Frexit from the EU. I doubt it.
Nationalists support sovereignty being held at the nation state level rather than with substates or international organisations. Fascism is authoritarian ethno-nationalism, but somehow everyone forgets the authoritarian ethno- part.
Difficult to respond to such a hypothetical situation. Evidently, no visible "leader" has all the correct ideas and programs.
The reason I asked was because he was throwing around the word "fascist". Meanwhile, Paris burns and people are being severely injured by his police force. They've now armed their riot police with loaded firearms. It's just a matter of time before they are used.
Those new ball launchers they're using so far have blinded people, put literal holes in their faces, knocked out teeth/broken jaws, cut their heads open, taken off fingers..... Not a peep about it from the MSM.
Well nobody can accuse The Donald of being articulate, that's f'sure, lol, so by that standard he must be intelligent. Considering how he's been the subject of unbelievable in-fighting and blatant lies ever since being elected, I have to say that apart from the incursion with his poodles UK and France into Syria, he's doing quite well compared to some of the losers you've had recently. Whatever his failings, nobody can doubt his patriotism? At least he doesn't want the scum of the earth coming into his country like the Dems evidently do?
