    Yeah, wouldn't it have been nice if the PRESS thought so? In a nutshell, that's what the story has become - the fact that our self-appointed Media Overlords did NOT ascertain the facts before running like a pack of wild dogs smelling fresh meat precisely BECAUSE they wanted to further THEIR ideological agenda and this story seemed to fulfill it.

    It's kind of hard to deny that this happened. The big story actually has little partisanship involved in it anymore so much as it is an indictment on how the press operates. Are you in favor of their standards for running a story, or not? You hardly need to wait for an investigation to respond to that.

    Philips might have lied. That doesn't mean that the MSM knew he lied.

    They reported in good faith. Then reported more when more facts came to light.

    There is a knee-jerking frenzy over the verbal encounter. I suspect at least some of misunderstanding can be cleared up by the principles' meeting and discussing what occurred.

    Amidst the chaos, could Nathan Phillips have misinterpreted the student's shouting? Indeed.

    Do I buy everything in the PR firm RunSwitch's three page statement read by Sandamnn? No, not without an independent investigation. - Scott Jennings, a conservative political commentator and a columnist for the Courier Journal, is a partner in RunSwitch.

    I do believe Sandmann when he says, "In hindsight I wish we could have walked away and avoided the whole thing."

    Fortunately, this was not another Charlottesville.

    No one was killed.

    That's - some pretty good dancing away from the question.

    I'm a bit curious what exactly was partisan about asking if you approve of the way the press handled itself? Are we to assume it's a given that the press itself IS highly partisan and one-sided in it's approach and that questioning the press is an act of partisanship?

    Heck, I'm still trying to figure out what "hyper-partisanship" was IN my post. But do carry on. My question still stands: Given the way they handled themselves in this situation, are you in favor of the press' standards for running a story, or not?

    Stop it already. You realize that you are doing to Phillips in this thread exactly what you accuse the MSM doing to the boys: Smearing him.

    Except, when the smears come from the RW trash blogs, you take it as gospel.

    In reality, none of the HS students, nor Phillips, were planning on being videotaped in this unfortunate encounter. Phillips might have jumped wrongfully to conclusions, which he admitted to his assumptions in an NPR interview that I heard.

    The fact is that everyone should have just walked away. Instead, testosterone took over and made the situation worse.

    The RW blogosphere trying to smear Phillips is no better than the MSM smearing the boys. What happened happened, and it usually takes two to tango. If you would dig up the HS student's past, I am sure there would be things coming up that are less than flattering, just as would be the case for anyone's past, your own or my past included.

    So, let's stop smearing people based on feelings about which political side they are on.

    But few on the left have bothered to apologize for smearing teenagers, and I doubt many more will.
