So... you cannot prove your claim.
    Thank you.

    What a fake leading question.
Yes we should end all public welfare and let charity do it's thing.

The poll question is way too much "black or white". It gives this choice: Either abolish all forms of public assistance -- including welfare for people who CANNOT support themselves, or, continue with the existing, vast smorgasbord of welfare programs -- much of which is lavished on people who learned during the Obama years that they could just lay around on their ass and suck a living off the government forever....

The poll needed to provide several more choices -- not just one extreme, or the other. So, I couldn't vote in it....

The poll is a risible Hobson's Choice.

There is a substantive difference between CAN'T work, and WON'T work .By the very existence of over $1 TRILLION national spending on welfare, and millions of jobs that go wanting makes it plainly clear that there is not enuff $$$ on earth to support all of the lazy people that refuse to work in place of a handout. However, there is more than ample wealth to care for those that cannot care for themselves. I suggest to do away with gov't wealth transfers (welfare), and encourage thru legislation the privatization of care for the unable, and expansion of the Commerce Dept to facilitate hiring. This would include unburdening business by eliminating minimum wage for teens in metro areas, and the privatization of healthcare, Social Security & Medicare payments to individual accounts of working people to be overseen by gov't.

The lazy can starve to death.

Nonsequitur. We were discussing your ludicrous belief that eliminating welfare would lead to poor people dying. We as a nation were a lot poorer in the 1930s than we are now, but it didn't happen then, so it wouldn't happen now.

If thats what you read out of my post, you need to go back to school to learn reading comprehension.

Course, you most likely voted to cut school funding, so no wonder your education seems lacking.

Proof of a claim not does not include "speaks for itself".
    Feel free to try again.

Your question is akin to asking, to prove the sky is blue.

    Its a self evident answer.

I refute the premise that people need the government to survive.

How does everyone not on the government nipple survive?

If the choices are continue doing what we are currently doing or cancel all handout programs, I say cancel them all.

If you want to choose between programs that actually do something to get people out of poverty or canceling all programs, let's try to get people out of poverty first.

I can agree with this. But We also have to acknowledge that we arent actually doing nearly enough to lift these people up either. And that in the current system, we give them just enough for bare sustenance living. We never provide them the tools to actually dig their way out of crushing poverty.

Many people are far more fortunate than others. Do you understand generational poverty, and the cycles of poverty on both an individual and a community?

We are giving them everything they could possibly need. The fact that they dont use all the handouts in a meaningful way isnt anyone's fault but theres.

So what additional services should poor people get?

They already get a free education, which history shows that they dont take advantage of. Proven bybtheir drop out rate.

They commit the vast majority of crimes, which goes on to make themselves must less employable after their sentences are up.

They have the vast majority of out of wedlock babies, which is a key indicator of living in poverty.

Help the people want help and willing to do what they need to do to take advantage of it. The rest can fend for themselves.

    No.

Many people stop expecting other people to take care of them, and they take care of themselves.

Oh I understand poverty. I lived in it for 15 years before I was able to make myself not-poor.

Perhaps you could explain how EBT makes you not-poor?

It doesn't. It keeps you there.

Let me tell you what was happening for those 15 years. You paid almost nothing in federal income tax. I paid a ton.

    You're welcome
