Australia and New Zealand both celebrate multiculturalism and both work hard to make it successful

They do, partly out of guilt of course over their treatment of the Aborigines. But our Aussie/Kiwi cousins are fine people.

And if you celebrate today's multiculturalism you're headed back there. Why is it that females can't seem to grasp the concept of realpolitik?

How odd. Multiculturalism is widely regarded as a failure in Europe.

Multiculturalism only works when it's natural. When it's forced upon people it is rejected.

I was in Australia and New Zealand for about a month just eight years ago. The Australians look down on the Aborigines no matter what they say. My impression that they consider a large number of them to be drunken do nothings.

The perception is not entirely unfounded.

Petrol up north is a non-sniffable alternative for a reason. Most towns are alcohol free for a reason.

I was in Alice Springs. It is in the interior. The Aborigines mostly live in the outback and do not spend much time in town. Some drink too much and hang around the mauls. The comments about them tended to be pretty bad.

4.3% have bachelor degrees or better

43.7% have not graduated year 12.

48.1% self report as not in the labor force

An additional 22.2% are unemployed but looking for work.

Rates of sexual assault are 200-400% higher amongst indigenous children.

    http://quickstats.censusdata.abs.gov.au/census_services/getproduct/census/2016/quickstat/IQS5

    All from the government stats.

    The perception is not unfounded.

They demand we pay for them to live in remote areas. We never took away their free ****. I support autonomy for indigenous communities, but NOT as segregationist policy within our nation. I support the independence of Northern communities as independent sovereign nations. The white man cannot hold them down if they are independent.

Back in the day they were living without any of our property, all of a sudden it is a disgrace for us to not give them free ****.

My best friend growing up was indigenous, there are plenty who work hard and earn a living, and I wish them all the luck in the world. But a large contingent have no interest in any of that and mooch off the public purse constantly with no aspirations whatsoever.

OP, what makes you qualified to speak for all Australians?

Can you back up your claims with poll data that shows that most Australians are happy with multiculturalism?

Because otherwise you're just speaking for yourself.

To me Australia is exactly like America with the same grievance industry and failed integration.

If the Aussies can make multiculturalism work, that’s wonderful. It’s generally been a failure worldwide. There is inevitable conflict when you mix people with different ethnicities and values.

The U.S. made multiculturalism work when we operated under the “melting pot” concept. But now we seem to think of ourselves as a “salad bowl” and we’re Balkanized.

Multiculturalism works if the cultures share the same foundational values. If not then you end up having segregated enclaves of "victims" always at war with the home country, full of resentment, and anger. Result is groups of people not succeeding and thriving.

    Bullshit!

It works if you ignore differences and celebrate commonalities

It has been immensely successful in the U.S. It'll get better once we get racists back in the closet. From which we wish Trump had never gotten them out of.

NZ. We learnt from them. I noticed it when I travelled there nearly 30 years ago. It can work. Sure it is not rainbows and butterflies the entire time but it does work

Are you joking? We had wall to wall racial riots the entire eight years that President Obama was Instigator in Chief.

When it's natural it's called integration.

Multiculturalism is the polar opposite of integration. It's more like segregation really.

Multiculturalism is what is bringing the racists out of the closet, not Trump. Trump is a symptom, not a cause.

    Diversity creates divisiveness:

"But a massive new study, based on detailed interviews of nearly 30,000 people across America, has concluded just the opposite. Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam -- famous for "Bowling Alone," his 2000 book on declining civic engagement -- has found that the greater the diversity in a community, the fewer people vote and the less they volunteer, the less they give to charity and work on community projects. In the most diverse communities, neighbors trust one another about half as much as they do in the most homogenous settings. The study, the largest ever on civic engagement in America, found that virtually all measures of civic health are lower in more diverse settings."

    (emphasis mine)

When the USA were truly multiculturalist ? You mean when they were catholic poles, protestant german and catholic irish, catholic italian, protestant anglo saxon mixing together ? Because it was barely multiculturalism.

That is cause and effect. Elites like multiculturalism for some reason. Ordinary people don't.
