Studies have shown Asians to have a higher IQ than Whites and for many of them their culture is to work hard and have discipline. I have not heard of them claiming racial superiority in this country, but they have in the past. WW II Japanese felt they were superior to every other race for example. Thing is, Whites don't get all bent out of shape over facts and matter of fact when Lefties come up with affirmative action plans, they often exclude Asians because they do so well without handouts.

Do you mean the book, the facts, or the statistical construct? Because there are many statistics that form a bell curve pattern, such as foot size, the weight of cows, the height of giraffes, etc. It's a naturally occurring phenomenon.

Then it would be like all the other public schools in NYC. Stuyvesant is a great school. De Blasio should leave Stuyvesant alone and work on making other schools better. Why should promising students be forced to stay in BAD public schools? My daughter went to Catholic school through 8th grade and was accepted into Catholic high school, but wanted to try for Stuyvesant and made it. She has said that she enjoyed high school more than college.

There are around 25,000-30,000 kids who take the test on a Saturday at a selected school near them. My daughter took hers at Bronx Science.

They can be. My daughter was a pitcher on the girls' softball team and she was all- city. It's not all about sports there although they have all kinds.

Ok the only reason I ask is because in the South you will see alot of private schools give out scholarships to get alot of the top athletes into their schools and that's not to say those kids aren't smart enough. It is just to say how they will change the rules sometimes to be on top.

I was offered a reduced tuition rate if I had attended Trinity High School in Louisville to play basketball.

I would have made the entrance exams no problem, but I couldnt have paid for tuition. So, they offered to "help" me with it.

I didnt go though. Wasnt going to change schools for two years.

As a side note, their basketball team is very black, as well as their football team, which is nationally ranked on an annual basis. I actually think you had to be a good student to get in there though, like, they wouldn't let you bypass the entrance exams.

I agree. Admittance should be based on merit, not ethnicity.

I was referring to the racist book. Statistics do often form a bell curve pattern as you say -- but applying this pattern to human IQ is racist. For that matter any statistics used to suppress minorities are racist.

If you get in to Stuyvesant or Bronx Science or Brooklyn Tech, there is no tuition. De Blasio's son went to Brooklyn Tech which meant that he did not score high enough for Stuyvesant or Bronx Science. Getting in is based solely on the test score. The principals don't even know who got in until they receive their list in the mail.

And there are plenty of private schools in New York that charge exorbitant tuition. Rich kids go to them. But a lot of other smart kids would not be able to afford the tuition. Stuyvesant is made up of lower and middle class kids who might be stuck in a bad school(and there are plenty of them in NYC) and can't afford Catholic school either. So, I don't see your problem.

It's time for rejected students to file suit and get to the bottom of this.

Unfortunately, the lives that are being lengthened are those who grew up without processes foods and pharm product dependency. Keep in mind that tax money is being used to make them fat in the first place.

Most rich white kids in NYC go to schools like Brearly or Collegiate or other private schools that cost over $30,000 a year...

You know, the three exam schools graduated 14 Nobel Prize winners. There is something to be said for promoting excellence over equality.

Nonsense. I can use the same bell curve pattern to refer to the facts that blacks are on average taller than whites, have higher testosterone levels, perform better at track & field events, and have longer penises. To say these things does not imply racism towards whites. So why does saying that blacks have on average lower IQ's and higher crime rates than whites equal racism towards blacks? These are simply statements of statistical facts. They imply nothing about any particular individual, nor do they recommend any particular course of action. No minorities are being suppressed by observing these facts. In fact, acknowledging facts is the first step towards doing anything about them. You can't address a problem if you refuse to see the problem in the first place.

The liberal elite like brown people to raise their kids, build their gated communities, and cut their lawns, sharing a classroom is a bridge too far...

I was being sarcastic. I think the Bell Curve book is a good read. My bad about the sarcasm. I should probably have used one of those emoticon things. I do think conservatives should use the word "racism" in all arguments so as to give libs a taste of their own medicine.

There were more black and Hispanic kids at these schools a couple of decades ago. Mark Twain and Christa McAuliffe and District 10, which is an affluent District, get a disproportionate number of admits due to access to rigorous academic programs, resources and test prep.

The differentiation in tracks begins as early as pre-school in some cases and certainly by middle school, as certain middle schools prepare kids better for the high school entrance exam and become feeder schools for the selective high schools.

I'm with Cortez. All of the schools should offer the type of honors courses and higher level math at an earlier age required to do well on these tests. It's not about IQ as much as preparedness.
