The opposition to the OP is based on fond hopes and delusions. The Dems will win Maine, New Hampshire and New Mexico, possibly Iowa, keep Virginia, and re-take Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
The dems are going to run on Healthcare and his personality and his inability to compromise with the repubs and dems in congress. The economy is strong and that is going to be an obstacle if it remains that way for 18 more months.
Look I defend Trump a lot more than most of the posters here on the left, buthe is loved by a very vocal minority and hated by and equally vocal minority. It is the middle 3 that he has to convince to a majority of to stay as president.
The unemployment rate, economy and the border are big wins for Trump, him being pro America helps too. The 100% anti-borders, anti-America, TDS/Russia fake news and people like AOC and especially the racist Omar that painted the left into a corner with the left being unable to denounce anti-Semitism seems like the end of the lefts chances of anything in 2020. It truly is a pleasure to watch.
To call trump's supporters and voters simple minded fools, well, you are doing what hillary did, in calling them deplorable. While I supported Sanders, in vote and money, I called the election for trump, against all of the pundits and the hillary people here, and against MSM. And I called it for trump because of what I saw with the Sanders campaign, and why he got such great support and contributions even as the democratic party, MSM and the DNC were working hard against him, in a most undemocratic manner. Think a corrupt banana republic. There were too many people wanting change, and wanting to be represented, which according to the Princeton Study, was not happening. Hillary would not represent these people, and only a delusional minded person would think that she would. 63 millions of them in fact. Of course she would have represented the upper middle and upper class, but as Princeton revealed, congress nor presidents were representing anyone but special interests, and our elites. While trump voters probably did not know about what Princeton revealed, using congressional record, they were intelligent enough to notice what hillary voters were clueless about. That DC was not representing them, neither the establishment Gop or DP. And so because of this, sanders ran a strong campaign against hillary, and trump was the answer on the GOP side. There was a hunger to be represented and there were enough people on the trump side to vote and to beat hillary. Trump is president because of those americans who realized they had been kicked to the curb, as well as the sanders supporters. Given this, I could call the election for trump. And I did, and he won. So, your take is so off base, and IMO, you are not really paying serious attention to what happened in 2016. And why trump won. Relegating it to simple minded people will not help your side, if you are a democrat. One would think by now even the most dense democrat would have understood what drove trump's win. To not see it will not help the dems in 2020. The dems will probably not win, just by running against trump. They best start actually representing those americans that the DP kicked to the curb, working americans who are still suffering from the greed of our elites and this scheme of globalism and depressing their wages by allowing illegal immigrants into our economy, and not talking about fruit pickers.
The 100% lying about Dems on borders (they do want sensible security), are certainly pro-America (more so than the far right populists), and the GOP still insisting that Trump is innocent (laughter rocks the room) is most amusing. I don't find how immigration and the border is a win for Trump. He has done nothing from the Employer side to decrease the possibility of the illegal immigrants from getting a job.
We see he clearly cares a hell of a lot more about fixing the border than any other politician in US history.
That is pretty much my take also. Trump ran against the only candidate for president who was more unpopular among the population than what he is now. Besides segments of the party that were loyal to her for her strides towards empowering woman most dems held their noses. Some Bernie supporters stood away as a protest to the treatment he received by her and the DNC. Some people thought the Trump that was on stage was part of his TV apprentice personality and that he would be a breath of fresh air. Well that air turned stale as it was found that he actually is a boor. The anti establishment vote is something that he can not claim next year.
