He quotes law, which clearly states tax information is confidential, including the name of the taxpayer and income. Yet that is precisely what he wants. The lack of understanding and research is damning.

I don't understand why Trump doesn't just release his tax returns if he has nothing to hide. I mean, he IS on record as saying that he would release them as soon as the IRS "audit" was completed. It's almost like he's just inviting everybody to become suspicious so that he can portray himself as the victim of "presidential harassment."

For somebody who leads the party of folks who likes to call everybody else "snowflakes," he sure does act like one. Why is it so hard for his fans to recognize that?

The privacy laws apply to all tax payers. 26 USC sect. 6103 applies to congressional requests for returns.

It is axiomatic that the statute which more specifically addresses an issue at hand is the governing statute. Moreover, a statute which contains an implicit exception to another law also governs.

Guess which statute governs here? Yes, that's right---congressional right to the turn over of the returns.

Clearly there is a difference between what the law IS and what the law OUGHT TO BE.

What is sickening to me is that whichever position one takes depends almost entirely on what political party it best serves, and one's position would easily change if the shoe was on the other foot.
