They know the wall will be mostly useless. But they want to steal our tax money anyway. It makes em feel good they did something. Even though, as 1 of the RW posters pointed out, 70% are stopped because of the wall. Meaning, 30% still go through, over, or under the wall.

I take frequent note of Vladimir Putin's intelligence, and his experienced ability as an effective leader for Russia. That said, you DON'T need a Ph.D (as Putin has) to understand that the way you keep your borders from being overrun by mobs that seek to throw themselves on your welfare roles and take every unfair advantage of your borders and your national security is to CONTROL all of the processes involving so-called 'migrants' carefully and rigorously.

Putin does this. Xi Jinping does this. Consequently, neither Russia nor China suffer from the kinds of 'migrant' problems that we do.

By contrast, Europe does NOT do this, and look at the dangerous, wretched mess that many large European cities have become. We in the U. S. don't control it, and look at the dangerous, wretched mess that nearly ALL of South Texas has become, in addition to other border cities like San Diego and El Paso. We will either find the mentality and determination to CONTROL this situation, or we will be submerged in CHAOS.

It must seem completely puzzling to powerful world leaders who ARE capable of protecting their country's borders and security....

[IMG]."Why would anyone NOT want to protect his own country from that kind of MENACE!"

He's so awesome and mighty and strong, it's just unbelievable why people aren't beating down the doors to get inside and become Russian.

Not familiar with immigration "sanctuaries" or was Calexit a success? I'm curious because someone keeps electing (D)'s who campaign on promises to abolish ICE, and expand sanctuary eligibility and entitlements. Which House rep did you vote for?

Upgrade Ellis Island and surrounding infrastructure; it is what civil defense is for.

    Which time?
The last time I voted D. Because there were to many Rs and they were no longer helping people, but themselves.
The time before that R, because the D in office was there too long.
    I also voted R gov last 2X

I know there are cities that don't cooperate with ICE. Churches also.
No idea on Calexit. Nor is it a big concern to me. I am not close to Ca.

I'm done trying to pry a response out of you. Mexico can offer, has offered, is obliged by treaty to offer asylum. You have no opposition to illegal entry, or the tax burden paid by "others". Put out the welcome mat.

I hope you remember to make that distinction after your city becomes a hellhole of crime, or that someone you care about is murdered by illegals, 'migrants', and other criminals.

The President of the United States can make a determination of what kind of "matter" this border crisis is, and I wish he'd SEAL THE BORDER SHUT and force the corrupt Mexican government clean up the dangerous masses of 'migrants' that fester on THEIR side of the border! Sadly, he's said that he will do essentially nothing until at least April of 2020! By then, it will be too late....

I hope he shuts it down.

And legally, it can't be a "defense" matter.

What about if someone he/she loves is murdered by an AR carrying white nationalist? Would that make anything different?

He knows economically he can't shut it down.

But what he's doing now is even more dangerous. He's leaving swaths of the border wide open.

New Mexico County Declares Local Emergency Over Abandoned Border Patrol Checkpoints
    ...

Normally, if you drive from Las Cruces to Alamogordo, N.M., on U.S. Route 70, you have to pull into a federal inspection station. A stern, green-suited agent asks if you're a U.S. citizen, while another one with a dog sniffs your car for drugs.

Nowadays, traffic roars past orange cones that block the entrance to the checkpoint. Customs and Border Protection has closed all six checkpoints in the El Paso Sector — which covers West Texas and New Mexico. Checkpoints elsewhere along the southern border are operating normally.

If Trump SEALS THE BORDER SHUT then nobody is going to get shot -- by ANYBODY. This volatile, dangerous situation needs to be stabilized and all movement must stop for the time being -- that is the only way we can even begin to control this miserable mess.

If Trump stalls taking any REAL action for a year, then we're screwed... you see that, don't you?

RW terrorists are here already and don't need a border to be shut to mow down innocent Americans who are not RW.

So you would rather those 70% enter our country illegally? A good wall has worked great in San Diego, reducing illegal crossings 90%+. And in Israel.

    No thanks to the governor.

"Earlier this year, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham withdrew 118 National Guard troops from New Mexico's southern boundary, calling President Trump's policies a "charade of border fear-mongering."

I would rather we address the real issue. Not put an expensive mostly useless wall that won't stop or fix the problem.

Military can't be used to secure borders. Legally.
    We aren't a police state.
Tell tRUMP to hire more border officers.
But the gov didn't take border officers off their posts, did she. So, why divert blame?

Dont be coy. Give us a policy position since you're so passionate about the subject.

You said you had a better solution than better border enforcement to illegal immigration.

    We're. All. Ears.
The floor is yours, share with the class your vision to solve this problem.

I am not a policy maker.
I never said I had a better position. But I have said for many many years, punish the illegal employers who hire illegal employees. That is already law.

Remove the reason for many coming here and the problem becomes much more manageable.

Crossing the border is not the way "the large majority of persons now become undocumented," the Center for Migration Studies(CMS) said in a recent report. Two-thirds of those who joined the undocumented population did so by entering with a valid visa and then overstaying their period of admission, the center repored.
