    Uh-oh!

"Washington (CNN)Iran's downing of a US drone takes the bitter foes one step higher in a cycle of escalation that could soon overwhelm each side's reassurances that they have no desire to tumble into war.

"The showdown with Iran has now become the grave foreign policy crisis for President Donald Trump that many analysts have long predicted and into which the administration is entering without any obvious end game in mind.

"Trump responded to the downing in an ominous fashion on Thursday morning by tweeting "Iran made a very big mistake!"

"But in an appearance in the Oval Office a few hours later he appeared to suggest that the order to down the drone came from a rogue element of the Iranian military."

"I find it hard to believe it was intentional," Trump said, seemingly looking for a way out of direct confrontation with Iran.

Sounds like Trump is finally beginning to realize what he did when he trashed JCPOA that permanently barred Iran from making a nuke. He suddenly is beginning to see the repercussions from the bellicose remarks from Pompeo and "regime change" Bolton.

A week ago I warned about a foolish mistake by a local commander in the dangerous environment created by the Trump administration. You can push a nation just so far, and, at some point, something will explode.

Maybe that is what happened here. I remind everyone no one has been hurt or killed ... yet.

But still at issue as Obama began his second term was $400 million that Iran in the late 1970s had paid for U.S. fighter jets, while Tehran was still a U.S. ally. After it turned into an enemy in 1979, Washington was not about to deliver the jets. But, all these years later, Iran wanted its money back—and with interest.

All told, Tehran was asking The Hague arbitrators (comprising equal numbers of U.S., Iranian and neutral judges) for $10 billion. Fearing they might actually be awarded that much, or something like it, the Obama administration negotiated privately with Tehran, which agreed to settle for $1.7 billion. The $400 million stacked on pallets was the first installment.

Yeah, and recently Trump sent 2,200 reinforcements. There is also a CBG in the Sea of Oman.:roflol::roll:

Israel is standing by with 75 to 200 nukes and a highly capable air force.

Why in the world would Iran want to start a war with the U.S. and its allies? A war they are sure to lose at tremendous cost.

No, the legitimate government of Iran in the 1970's paid for the military equipment that was stolen by the coup.

That money belonged to the now-defunct government of Iran, not the people who overthrew the government.

You'll notice that approving giving that money to Iran did not go through Congress, and Obama had to break existing US sanctions and banking laws to give that money to Iran.

That is, of course, why he did it in secret, or at least tried to.

Obama was funding terrorism, was what he was doing.

Oh, so governments have money? Well, when our government gave Iran money you just said it was my money.

Make up your mind. Either it's the government's money or the people's money.

Governments have the money they take from you. That's pretty easy for most people to understand.

It's also supposed to be pretty easy to understand that the government belongs to and works for the people, unless you think like a Democrat or a terrorist regime.

Would you like to address the point raised or keep waffling.

It was a deal that removed 80% of the enriched Uranium that Iran had, allowed inspections, and stopped their nuke program cold.

And yes...they were abiding by it...Trump's own Admin admitted it

What sites, if any, were inspections not allowed in Iran under the "agreement"?

It was money that we took from Iran in return for jets we never delivered. We returned it 35 years later and paid them zero interest...in other words we paid them back far less than what they originally paid for that deal we renegged on.

Newsflash...when Greece threw out the corrupt regime that created huge debt, the international banks made the new government pay that money back. That has happened throughout the world. It's how it works

What about the negative Karma from suppressing the Palestinian Arabs?

So if we kill off Israel, we kill off god. Fine with me. Besides US Jews have it much better than Israeli Jews.

The so-called Neocons have been working on this since at least Reagan's presidency. There has long been this plan to take over the Persian areas, from Afghanistan to Syria. You could see this conflict coming a mile away with people like John Bolton, Elliot Abrams, and Mike Pompeo running the show. If this goes to war it will be a disaster because Trump is no leader.

And these stupid leftist on CNN saying the goal should be to avoid war and that it would be a bigger mistake than Iraq. Well when you tell your enemy that is attacking you your goal is not to go to war whatever it takes to avoid it..........................you've already lost and they have you right where they wanted, their use of force worked because we bowed down to them and showed weakness. That's Obama foreign policy, the US is always wrong and anything but force to appease our enemies even when they are attacking us.
