I'll just chalk it up as left vs. right politics as usual. If the right wants something it is the duty of the left to stop them and vice versa. If the left wants something the right has to stop it. Because of that, I think our political system is broken and has ceased to function in a manner good for the country.

I just heard on the news they could skip the question. I think both sides need to calm down. What idiocy over something meaningless. But that is what our politics have evolved into, idiocy.

I hear that bull crap line every day ... the Republicans had all sorts of time to come up with solutions and they wouldn't touch it because they NEED the anti-immigration vote just as much as the Dems need the pro-immigration vote. Like abortion, immigration has become a "get-out-the- vote issue that's more valuable to BOTH sides as an unresolved issue. So give it rest.

The ruling says it stays until further clarified.

Better solution: Stop illegal immigration, remove problematic illegals.

We use the census for a number of things including redistricting, representation, allocation of state/federal monies, etc. Being that illegals are typically concentrated in areas that favor their presence the result is that those areas will benefit from enhanced numbers.

The goal being to eventually have none to be counted.

Are people here on valid visas and those holding green cards considered illegal immigrants?

No they’re non citizens, the same people you just said you had a goal of “having none to count”. How will you have none to count?

Did I say "non-citizens" or did I say "illegals"?

I asked about non citizens and you apparently answered a different question. Would you like to revise your answer? Not everyone here who isn’t a citizen, is illegal.

That's a stretch but no the focus is clearly on illegal immigrants. This was not a productive use of our time.

I was attempting to point out that even if we have nobody here illegally, we would still be counting non-citizens.

We'll see how Alabamas case goes.

An inhabitant is not someone who is here illegally.

Nobody is even attempting to not count illegals. That’s not even on the table.

Yes, but they have permission to be here, and the expectation was that naturalization was a process whereby that non-citizen would become a citizen.
