Why have we lost our patriotism?

It became popular amongst liberals to hate America back in the sixties....and this travesty has only grown since then.

If you wanted an honest conversation about patriotism don't start it by bashing liberals and bringing up Colin Kap, who I can't and don't speak for.

It doesn't make you un-patriotic to point out what you think is wrong about your country. Quite the opposite actually.

 

If you want to work backwards on why we lost our patriotism, then kaepernick is the perfect place to start. Then we can move on to the kneelers and flag burners.

Wanting a minimum standard of health coverage for all is one.
Calls to end gerrymandering is another as it allows politicians to pick their voters instead of the voters picking their politicians.

I want a party that actually cares about all American’s well being and wants to keep illegal invaders out

How do I show my patriotism? I am a productive member of society. When I see a person in need of help I try to help. I don't find it a need to drape myself in a flag. I have several family members who are/were military and to a person they don't feel it necessary to do so either. I also have grandfathers who fought in WWII. One in the pacific theatre the other in the European. One came back with a limp from a German bullet, the other flew missions without a scratch. The one that was wounded was forever changed from that war and was never able to connect with another person again. Neither of my grandfathers draped themselves in flags either. They came home and worked and supported their families.

As far as my wife goes, when I think she is in the wrong I tell her. She does the same to me. Criticizing something doesn't mean you don't love that something. What a either/or simplistic world view.

 

That’s reality. Everything I mentioned benefits all Americans.

 

Nah, they just like it there because they are always cold. Hell, my Mom will come where I am when she can't care for herself any longer.

 

Tariffs have been brutal for my place of employment. No reason why commodities should have price changes so drastic and frequent. Makes it damn challenging to negotiate pricing for material. Pulling out of the Iran deal has not benefitted us. There is still no wall. And Mexico isn't going to pay for it as he promised. So I ask again, what exactly has he done to benefit us again?

My mother has already moved to my city and when it comes time she will have a room at my house. No nursing homes for her. House nurses when needed and when it comes time hospice. That is yet another way I am patriotic. I take care of my own.

On another note, and this is stunningly lost on the right, is that freedom of speech is something we as Americans fight for. It is a tenant of our society. When they denounce someone using their free speech they are themselves being unpatriotic. I try not to waste much time thinking about it.
