The term "Patriot" has been corrupted by the new Trumpist contingent and lost much of its original meaning. Today it it used more as a tool of attacking than national pride or support of country. In my opinion those that do so are actually doing more damage to the internal stability of the United States than external players and are therefore the opposite of what the term actually means. When you call a war hero names because you do not like him....you are far from patriotic.

Thank you for being a shining example of a Trumpublican. Now carry on worrying that all the evil Libs want to destroy your way of life and try to have a calm and relaxed 4th of July in whatever safe space you have for yourself.

You started this thread with a dishonest construct, and supported it with a code word laden right wing rant from Murdoch media, and accompanies it with something else from a right wing trash blog.

Patriotism is not the property of one political ideology, even though you’re trying to claim that it is.

When Sinclair Lewis wrote “It Can’t Happen Here”, he wasn’t disparaging his country. He was pointing out the evils of narrow minded appeals to victimhood, racism, and the easy promises of demagogue politicians. All of which are present, and being actively promoted by the very media you cited as source material.

Opposing a wannabe dictator and a pseudo racist, who ignores the rule of law, has undermined his own staff, tried to ignore Congressional oversight, and is now defying the Surpeme Court IS patriotic.

Saluting and flag waving for this traitor may feel patriotic. But many would disagree.

Standing up for what your country says it stands for, the rule of law, the Constitution, and democracy is patriotic.

Cheering for a man who respects none of these things, and openly talks about appointing himself to succeed himself may feel patriotic. Scoundrels always appropriate the trappings of patriotism to hide behind.

This is not to suggest that conservatives are not patriotic. But I do suggest that patriotism is a lot more than flag waving and blind allegiance.

Especially when it comes from the exceptionally ridiculous, misleadingly named “American Thinker”.

This is the three syllable word version of Breitbart and Daily Baller.

Absolutely..............American patriotism is at a record-low, according to a new Gallup poll. Only 47 percent of respondents are “extremely proud” to be American, and most of the decline has taken place among Democrats. In 2013—only five years ago—56 percent of Democrats said they were “extremely proud” of being American. Now it’s just 32 percent.

If Trump can't inspire Americans, in spite of political party, then he is a mediocre President.
Over 60% of Americans feel that Trump has engaged in illegal activities before he was President. He wastes his days barking at every dog in the yard, not inspiring young Americans to common goals. He has a negative personality. It's no wonder that he has turned a number of people off.

Hopefully, the next President is a more positive influence.

'My country, right or wrong'. That is not patriotism, but it seems to be the standard held for determining it.

Why is it deemed unpatriotic for some to see wrongs in their country? For them to see a president who is, himself, not patriotic? Why is patriotism a term reserved for those who wrap themselves in flags and spit at those who don't do the same?

Amazes me that the "patriots" on this board bad-mouth Tulsi Gabbard, a 20 year Veteran who has served two tours overseas, while they worship Trump, who faked his way out of military service and outsourced all his merchandise manufacturing over-seas ... just, WTF is that all about?

Because the interpretation of the history by the America hating left is cherry picked or out right lies.

Criticism is one thing, bogus propaganda is another.
